New Album Releases of 2014

Barely listened to any sludge/doom this year, and I suck at keeping up to date with... the world
Just listening to the new YOB release.
New Ides of Gemini was disappointing (admittedly I haven't listened to it all, but I thought they'd progress more since their debut)
I only just discovered Black Moth but they have some sweet riffs

Time to peep the new bongripper
been listening to too much emo and rap

Electric Wizard dropped an album??? I'm v ambivalent, not ready to crush my hope yet..

The new Ariel Pink album is pretty great. Totally insane, but that's fitting from a guy who is utterly mental. Check out "Put Your Number in my Phone."

It sounds like a cheesy Beach Boys tune filtered through five decades of lo-fi, self-released psychedelia. Pretty fitting from a guy who one can assume has taken rather too much of something or other in his time.

tribal gal, very catchy tune. listened to it a couple times since last night and have it stuck in my head atm "so hot so cold, so young so old" =)
 
For any fans of thrash metal or shredding or ex-Megadeth guitarists.

Marty Friedman's Inferno turned out really nice. No J-pop stuff, just good ol metal.

Hey, I'm really glad you like it. It's definitely one of those songs which gives the impression you've heard it before. I initially thought it might be a cover, as it has a 60s vibe to it. But no, it's an original tune. :)

Mary Timony is actually my fav musician of all time, and Ex Hex is by far her most commercial sounding material. But if truth be known, I'm a much bigger fan of her earlier work. Her use of metaphors always painted this image of a surreal world in my head whilst listening to her songs, and I think that's something which is lacking in Ex Hex. Nevertheless, I'll be seeing these guys twice this upcoming February. But for now, I'll leave you with something from way back when. ;)
