So ... I am an addiction counsellor and work daily with men in recovery (or just need a bed to crash). I see the terrible effect of addiction on people's lives everyday. As a youth I blamed my father and his drinking for my issues (low self-esteem, etc.). I was married and quit drinking and drugging for narly six years to straighten my shit out and went to college for Social Services. I graduated with honours and now work for a prestigous hospital. I drink approximately three days a week and enjoy it, I also use controlled substances and enjoy tripping out. So, that's me ... I'm not a hypocrite as I tend to engage my men in harm reduction over abstinence; but if they're at abstinence I can talk at length with them about 12 Step and treatment options. I keep my personal life outside of work and my work out of my personal life. I am here to learn about street drugs as my clients (and some peers) encounter bad shit out there and I'd like information on symptoms of adverse reactions. Also, I am here as a human being, and am willing to lend an empathetic ear at times, and may want to join in on some conversations that interest me. Cheers!

Hey who'd want a drug-naive addiction addiction counselor right?
welcome to bluelight :)

Welcome to BL. I admire your effort to understand your clients more by researching. You came to the right place.

Yes, my men are taking new meds like suboxone & oxyneo and I'd like to learn to help ... Plus there's talk here they'd never share with me and it's the best place for me to be!!!! Cheers!
