Ok I know I've completey beat this topic to death over and over again, but i've got a tricky question. I abused MDMA once a weekend for about 9-11 weeks, appx 30 pills. I've had crazy typical neurotoxic symptoms, dep, anx, insomnia, all after my LAST drop. 7 months post and I've started 10 mg of lexapro, and my question is, if I noticed a mood boost from such a low dose, does that intitle that maybe I havnt completely destroyed my serotonin system? I.e. Typical MDMA depression patients don't respond to ssris..

I'd love to imagine that it's still intact and that I'm just experiencing depersonalization and depression/anxiety from breaking up with gf during that time, and dropping out of school, I was very fixated on panicking over this for a few months, maybe cortisol is responsible for my cognitive/depressive/insomniac problems.

What's your thoughts?

Nobody would be able to give you a clear answer. All we can say is that abusing ecstasy weekly for 10 weeks IS bad for you and WILL negatively affect you both physically and mentally.

Also increased cortisol levels does put you at a higher risk for anxiety and depression which essentially just ties into being stressed which could stem from the ecstasy abuse or the problems in your life or even both...
But increased stress and pressure could lead to burn-out which would explain depresonalization, emotional exhaustion, and lack of personal accomplishment.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but there's no way anyone would be able to give you a definite answer?
Your body is very well capable of restoring itself back to optimal health so I don't think you should worry too much.

Thanks for your opinion, I believe so too. My question was basically if I noticed a positive reaction from such a lose dose of an SSRI, then theoretically speaking I havnt completely destroyed my serotonin system.. I know theres no decimate answer, that why I asked "what's your thoughts?" because the destruction of my serotonin system is the stem to all the stress I've put myself under.

I appreciate you opinion, and I relise there's no definate answer, but I'd like to hear some peoples views on SSRIs efficany after neurotoxicty of MDMA, obviously relative to the serotonin system, because I know the brains more capable of recovery from cortisol release due to stress more than it's recovery from the neurotoxicity of MDMA.

Don't worry about it, you may have incurred some permanent damage but it'll clear up to the point where you don't notice problems. And that is your aim, you say you waited 7 months ? Well try waiting another 5 months so it'll be a year off ecstasy and you should be feeling better by then. Also it has been covered many times, SSRI's for mdma induced damage and psychological problems is not the solution. Your brain is going to rely on that SSRI for normal serotonin process and function, and once you get off it you will be at a lower point then you started. Just try and tough it out dude, i thought i was never going to change because i was at such a low point for such a long time but things got better. I didn't abuse as bad as you, but once i took a 9-10 month break from E i came back to it and take big gaps in between my drops, needless to say i feel a lot better but there is room for improvement.

I've abused ecstasy much longer and more frequently than you when I did, and though it was a stupid idea, everything seems to be back to normal and has been for a while. my junior year of high school me and my friends were taking 3-4 pills a night every friday and saturday for a good three months. It took about 6-8 months but everything is fine, not depressed or anything. I'm now 21 and everythings cool stay up bro.

Diamonds is right, the best anyone can do is speculate.

Once again I suggest you speak with a doctor as this is not something we can help you with.
