I'm off overseas on Thursday and as I'm extremely pathetic when it comes to flying I've decided to take some valium to relax me/ stave off a panic attack on take off!
I was just wondering what the dose would be for this? I've done a search & can't seem to find it. I have no tolerance to Benzo's and weigh 60kg (female).
Thank you,
JJ

PS- Dont' want to get off my head, just stave off my nerves. Thanks...

If you just looking for anti-anxiety effects, why don't you try taking the normal therapeutic dose of 5-10 mg.

5-10mg is a pretty standard "ease the nerves" dose, so that's what I'd recommend.

I'd also suggest that, coz you're in Australia, you have a look for a book called "The Fearless Flyer's Handbook", published by Qantas. I'm pretty sure you can just buy it from Dymocks or Angus and Robertson. I'm a shocking flyer but the book really helped (the valium helped too 8))

Start low..

Start with a 5mg dose just before takeoff, and if the apathy hasn't kicked in within 30 mins, bang another 5mg back.

I found the duration on the apathy to be a little too short for a 4 hour, bumpy flight.

Was tired for about 1 1/2 hours, then snapped completely out of it around the 2 hr mark. Probably shoulda slapped another one down about then, but didn't.

HTH,
