Nelumbo nucifera (Blue Lotus) - Experienced - An Excellent Herbal Adventure

I recently got some 25x extract. What's a good starter dose? And is there cross-tolerance with kratom?

It isnt an in your face type high, it is more a pleasant subtle buzzing. Dont give up on it yet, there is some reverse tolerance involved and the effects become more pronounced with experience, like cannibis, salvia, or kava.

I totally agree.

The Absolute Oil is bunk.

I read this report a couple months back and ordered a vial... what a waste of money.

First time I dropped many drops into wine for myself and my girlfriend. We got drunk off the wine but were uncertain about any additional effects. I thought I was feeling a bit different... but it was hard to tell.

So the next day I took maybe 6-7 drops alone. Nothing... nothing... chest pain? Strange that I would get chest pain from this but I did. And no other effect.

I tried it a few more times, with varying doses. Every time I felt nothing but a strange chest pain.

Hey at least it came in a cool little glass vial.

Tnx 4 Your reviewees- I have ordered 1g of 50X extract of Nelumbo nucifera. What is recommended dosage?
Anyway, when I test it, will make a review.

I have plenty of experience with both Nelumbo nucifera (Blue Lotus) and Nymphea caerulea (Sacred Blue Lily of the Nile). They are both amazing plants, however, I will focus primarily on the species Nelumbo nucifera (Blue Lotus) in this report, as I have found that it provides the more profound effect between the two plants even though it is reported that they contain similar alkaloids.

Not all Blue Lotus is the same.

And most of what is being sold right now is not what the ancient Egyptians were actually using.

The flower on the temple walls. The one held by Hathor. Offered to pharaohs. Consumed by priests before every initiation.

That is Nymphaea caerulea. The Egyptian Blue Lotus.
What most sellers use is [Nelumbo nucifera].

Beautiful flowers. Sacred in their own traditions. Used in Ayurvedic and Buddhist practices for thousands of years.

But they are not the same plant.

Different profile. Different effect on the body. Different connection to the nervous system and consciousness.
When I first started sourcing I made the same mistake everyone makes.

I trusted the label.
I assumed Blue Lotus was Blue Lotus.

It was only when I prepared both side by side using the same spagyric method that I understood the difference.

The Egyptian flower has a depth the Asian varieties simply do not carry in the same way.

Softer. More grounded.
More connected to something ancient.

This is the flower I source. This is the flower I prepare. This is the flower on the walls.

Comment "LOTUS" and I will send you how to tell the difference.

Investigating the psychedelic blue lotus of Egypt, where ancient magic meets modern science. Jason Pohl. UC Berkeley News. 2025.03.11

Online, products branded as the blue lotus promise calm moments and psychedelic trips. But they're far different from what ancient Egyptians consumed, a UC Berkeley student researcher says.

"Harmalas on their own are plenty active, they also can bring activity out of things that you wouldn't expect, Banisteriopsis caapi with blue lotus consistently induces an intense psychedelic state that is not adequately explained by the pharmacology of either one of those plants on their own, in my opinion." @Esperighanto 2026.04.18 https://www.bluelight.org/community/posts/16417492

I'm very interested in doing this, and am now in a climate where I can. I know they need to be grown in water, but I have only ever dabbled into hydroponics for roots, never for a floating flower like this. Do you have any resources you might point somebody towards about this?
