Nefopam HcL

Here's what they say on psychotropic.dk:

Derivative of orphenadrine (ring closure of side chain). Has been studied for the treatment of depressive states. According to later references mainly used in the management of pain conditions. NE/5-HT uptake inhibitor at analgesic doses. Also muscle relaxant effects reported. Norepinephrine uptake inhibitive mode of action. Mean plasma half-life in young healthy subjects about 6. 3 hours; mean plasma half-life in healthy elderly volunteers about 8. 5 hours. Current studies for presumed enantioselectivity. An open pilot trial of the preventive effect of nefopam in migraine headaches showed a poor tolerance. Nefopam is considered to be an effective non-narcotic analgesic.

It seems to be non-recreational, but still a useful medication (antidepressant, muscle-relaxant, mild non-opiate painkiller...)

Just from glancing at the structure I would think it would share properties with benzos, but who knows? I've never heard of it before.

Yeah the structure has some aesthetic edge...took it once against my whisplash syndrom, but nothing about it felt recreational. Some side effects as well. And the pain didn't get better. The SSRI's and NARI's usually give me headaches on their own.

I have the structure attached here. I guess its a drug but it doesnt strike me as being particularly praiseworthy.

Duloxetine is probably a market leader in the realm of NE/5HT inhibitors.
