Needle Gauges for those who shoot

walgreens brand 29ga 1/2" 1cc are my favorites. we used to go through a hundred-pack almost every week, which made for plenty of delightfully sketchy twacked-out 3am point runs.

personally i've never used anything bigger than a 28, but i watched someone use one of the 22ga 1.5" points i shoot estradiol with in his arm once D:

i like 27g 5/8"1ml anything smaller gauge presents problems with registering and drawing up the solution

i am on the west coast and fitting a half gram of tar in a 1ml can be a bitch no way 1/2ml would work unless you have a really small habit and shoot less than a dime.

27g dont seem to hurt to much but i only use them once so that helps id ont even shoot with the needle that i use to draw up , i draw up the gear and back fill into a fresh rig so that the tip is virgin.

even sticking the tip in cotton cand dull them

i agree with all of the others who said turemo they are way better than bd or or some generic off brand bullshit.

i have a full selection of sizes that i use for filtering and banging other shit (the needle exchange i go to rocks he has everything, its not really a needle exchange its just some aussie guy who runs it out of his house he will deliver until he gets to know you and then you get to just go to his pad and pick out whatever you want ,filters, ties, cookers, alchohol swabs, little prerolled cottons, every kind of needle you have ever seen he even has scripts of antibiotics for fighting abcesses its really cool its like going shopping at the needle store but there is no cost , i always donate because i get 500+ rigs a month from him because i give them out to street junkies)

but for heroin which is my drug of choice its turemo 27g 5/8" 1ml for the win

1cc 29 gauge short tip insulin syringe. the long tip kind are good if you have bad veins cause you can get into some deep ones.

I used to hate long tips and always preferred short tips. However, once I got better at maneuvering the long tips, I now think they are much better. I actually find it quite hard to register with a short tip now.

I don't like long tips either, though some of my friends swear by 'em. I think they're only necessary if your veins are scarred up or if you're hitting something other than your hand or mainline.

I don't know, 26G, maybe 25G. Gauges of all sizes are available free of charge at the needle exchange around here.

I prefer 27/28G 1cc 1/2inch Terumo's.

Don't really care for the other brands, as the plunger isn't as smooth as Terumo's, IME. As for different gauges, I wouldn't go below 27 unless I'm in a huge bind. I don't like the higher gauges cause they clog easier, bend easier, and registering is slower.hitting sides, going through the vein, etc) with them.

couldn't agree more. my personal preference is 27g 1/2'' terumo setups. they seem to glide a lot easier as well as i've found the bd ultra fines can be a little blunt at times and can be a struggle registering and pushing the plunger down.

most of the pharmacists as well as the hospital supply these setups while there are some others that stock bd's. if all i can get my hands on rigs that are bd's, then so be it. i'd really prefer the terumo for personal comfort and the reliability of a well manufactured needles for IV use:\

10 pack of BDs is around 2.50 here at rite aid or cvs, but if you go to stop and shop or shaws its around 5 bucks

and btw I prefer 30g 1/2inch 1cc

27g 1cc 1/2in terumo.

I find them to be sharper than BD with a smoother plunger, plus 90% of pharmacies and the needle exchange stock only them around here.

^same as round here (south of thee borrrderr :) ).

Using 20g to IV is insane. If you're shooting pills (I think someone mentioned dilaudid above) and your mix is that thick it won't go through a 27g, then it's too thick to inject!!! Get some wheel filters and filter that sucker. I've also noticed that when people are blasting a slow release tablet (like MS Contin) - if they heat the mix, the wax in the pill turns to goo. Don't inject goo!! Better to use cold water, use more water, use a pill filter (multiple filtering through cotton if you can't get pill filter).

Have also been trying out sterifilt filters from Apothicom - the universal ones will fit on Terumo as well as BD 1ml with 1/2" needle (any gauge). It's a 10 micron filter that will fit right over the needle. Not bad - heaps cheaper than pill filters too.

Orange tip 1cc 28g BD insulen syringes are the best! The 1/2cc short needles suck(unless your shooting in your hands).

Terumo 25 gu with a 3 mL syringe. I find a larger syringe is easier for me to manipulate.

I used a 22 gu last week and now I have a huge bruise on my arm. I had to appear last week for a bogus paraphernalia charge and wore short sleeves and freaked!

I use a 29-31g BD 1cc with the 0.5in needle. This, I feel, is the best syringe out there. I've never gotten any that were damaged (other brands have been), they're very comfortable, and they generally just have a quality feel to 'em. I hate short-tip rigs with a PASSION.

The biggest needle I ever used was probably a 25g; that's all they had left in the hood and I was ready to go! Those things leave a MONSTER of a hole.

This is a little off topic, but I was just watching a re-run of Intervention... and it's that chick that shoots meth... the one that will try to register for over an hour at times... it's because she's sticking it in at a friggin 90° angle! Makes me want to throw up!

Used to use 31 thinking they were smaller, thus reducing track marks. But the bending of the thiner needle tips is much worse than the slightly larger hole from the 28g.

1cc or 1/2, cant stand the 3/10.
