I'm going to be supplying information/guidance on a "designer drug" (we like to call them RCs) news story being done by a major cable network. I'm being used on account of both my academic and not-so-academic areas of interest.
What I want advice on things to include, in line with the goals of this form, I will be attempting to slant this segment as far into a pro-drug/harm reduction story as possible, I believe the journalist's motive is primarily harm reduction but i will get in information about academic and medical research done now days with hallucinogenic drugs and their use withing society.
if you can provide suggestions for points to hit on in a list under each of those two categories "harm reduction" "and positives and uses/of psychs it would be appreciated so I make sure I don't miss something important. I also believe that by making people aware of what the REAL dangers are of doing street drugs, not just telling them don't do them whatsoever will decrease the amount of ODs, arrests, death etc that end up on the news and give bad press.
for example some things I plan on adding in the danger/harm reduction sections is.
things leading to overdose/harmreduction topics:
1. drug misidentification: extreme potency of new RCs compared to classical/popular drugs RCs being passed off as MDMA like PMA or 2-cx's
2. lower (much) LD50 of intended to mimic drugs, i.e. nbome's vs lsd
2. hot spots in improper dealer cutting
3. inexperienced user/not waiting for drug to hit or not titrating doses
4. redosing and nonlinear dose response curves
5. trusting others with dosage
6. testing materia
7. taking two different untested substances in a night can lead to a dangerious combo i.e., a "DXM pressed pill, followed by real MDMA...not good
8. dirty synths/purification from unregulated labs
As far as research in this area, I know of studies done with classical drugs like psilocybin, MDMA, lsd and such but there have been some human studies I'm aware of on newer/ synthetic compounds. but looking for other suggestions on popular, recreational synthetics and humans. Even invitro or animal research on synthetics is relevant that u think is important to add.
Thanks for suggestions
