As the title says, I need ways to prevent myself from biting the inside of my lip and surrounding gums towards thee front of my mouth. The only reason I do it is because it sort of feels good and I do it all the time! Its so hard to just stop doing it.

Any ideas to prevent this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Andy.

Maybe try chewing gum? that may help...

and what you are doing sounds like a nervous habit! do you have issues with anxiety? maybe treating the anxiety (if these is any) with either meidcations or counselling (or both) may help too.

Yeah, I'd try to work on the anxiety that is surely causing you to do this. Oral fixations in general are hard to break... Maybe try chewing gum for a little while? Be careful to not chew gum excessively though as it is bad for the jaw.

As with breaking any habit, just be mindful of what you are doing, and when you start doing it, stop. Picking up another habit in place of this (chewing gum, sucking on candy, etc) is only going to leave you with another habit that is difficult to break.

Mind over matter.

Seriously. :)

I bite my nails and the inside of my mouth ALL the time. I'm doing it as I'm writing this post.

Gum is good, but it comes down to will power. It's really hard, I've tried to stop multiple times but a majority of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it

I used to do this when I stopped biting the skin round my fingernails...took a lil while, but not as long as the first habit, to break.

Just be highly conscious of what you're doing - and I would say breathe deeper and longer. and don't worry or panic.

put some really untasty chapstick on. like vaseline. that shit tastes nasty but it will make your lips soft.
