I feel you on the Gabapentin. I'm prescribed and it made me gain weight, and since I just could not abide by that fact, I stopped taking it. I now realize it did help with my back pain...still not worth it.
I have quit heroin just a handful of times and never had more than Clonidine .01mg every 8 hours. I cannot stress the PLEASE WAIT AT LEAST 8 HOURS before dosing again. Typical junkie behavior, one Clonidine wasn't kicking in fast enough, so I took 2 and then maybe one more. Thankfully, I lived 5 blocks from the hospital. It wasn't that my blood pressure dropped too low, it felt like my heart was banging around in my chest. So, I got myself good and freaked out and went to the ER. I didn't tell triage I was kicking smack, that would warrant getting flagged in the future. The nurse said it sounded like a panic attack, as my heart rate was ok.
Yeah, so, Clonidine and make sure you taper off of it before you stop taking it. Gabapentin does help to a degree for slight sedating effect. Didn't matter what I really took, comfort med wise...still gotta pay that piper!!!
Honestly, when I took the Clonidine correctly, it really helped with the restlessness and sweating.
Good Luck. I can tell you that today I have just shy of 4 months off a TRULY SHITTY HEROIN REPLACEMENT...dirty 30's. Hate Fentanyl, the high sucked to me. It is fantastic to wake up without that monkey on your back and head outside knowing you can do whatever you wish without needing a fix first!!!!!
The first couple weeks were rough-ish. The third week was crucial, as it had been the longest time I had been without an opiate, since my two year prison bid over a decade ago. Once some energy returns, it just gets better and better.
IT IS WORTH QUITTING FOR
YOU ARE WORTH IT.
