Misc Need something to knock me out

200 mg of temazepam is a huge dose. I assume you have a really high tolerance for benzos. Have you tried Zanaflex/tizanidine? It's a Rx muscle relaxant that I find incredibly sedating at 4 mg, much more so than Benadryl/Seroquel/temazepam/clonazepam/Ambien. It also has a completely different mechanism of action than the benzos, so I'm guessing you wouldn't have issues with cross-tolerance like with other benzos.

No tolerance, I quit benzos years ago due to developing paradoxical effects. It just doesn't seem to do it anymore for me. I'll ask my doc about the ones you mentioned, thanks.

Man if temazepam doesnt work your in trouble cause that is an excellent sleep med IME. I would say maybe try mixing Temazepam weed and an antihistamine together see how that goes.

Doesn't do much, weed can drop me for an hour or two when combined with temazepam but hardly a night's rest.

Have you tried zolpidem (ambien)? As far as sleeping pills go, this is the one I have had the most success with. I have found that it works best if you take it and then get into bed with some soothing music on and shut your eyes.

I have, doesn't have much of an effect on me. :/

Halcion (triazolam) is a potent benzo that hits hard and quickly, and has good hypnotic properties, but it is rather short-acting. You would likely need a good dose of this if the temazepam is not doing the trick at the above mentioned doses, but it is a very powerful hypnotic as far as benzos go. Melatonin is a natural supplement, and is OTC, could help some. Good sleep hygeine is important, sleeping should be a relaxing and comfortable experience. Hot baths/showers can be relaxing, and crawling into bed after one might help in addition to meds/supplements. If the insomnia is so severe you could look into barbiturates, but these are extremely dangerous in terms of OD and addiction. They are drugs not be fucked with. And they are not common, though phenobarbital and butalbital are not impossible to get.

Hmm. I always thought Halcion was banned in Finland but it seems the ban was temporary. I'll see how my doc feels about RX'ing something like that to a person who already becomes aggressive and restless from benzos. As a temporary fix I'd accept anything. Good tips, thanks.

Seroquel doesn't knock you out?? Jeez

Exercise more!

My body is one big aching muscle atm from exercising too much. :D

try king-hitting yourself. it works 99% of the time. :)

Good idea, as soon as I can find quality weed in this backward place. =)

In any case, thanks for all the tips. I think I'm gonna take the easy way out tonight and just stave off the withdrawal with a little bit of something fun. I need a rest far more than I need to stay 100% clean. Should have tapered slower in the first place. I've slept 3 hours in the last 50+ so I don't really care that much about total abstinence right now. In a few days I'll go see my doctor and discuss the situation and the meds mentioned ITT.

Maybe mirtazepine, maybe promethazine aka phenergan perhaps even in comnination with a dose of diazepam.

Personally i'd try an anthistamine with a benzo.

Phenergen is pretty sedating but its kinda nasty feeling. I used to take temazepam for sleep and sometimes it wouldn't always work but it did help. If you have paradoxical reactions to most benzodiazepines don't be stupid and take a super large dose of them. More than likely it will just give you an awkward energy thats very uncomfortable. Everyone kinda named everything you can possibly do for sleep. Kava works good if you buy it from the right place. Usually not stuff you can find in a store. Ordering via internet is usually the only way unless you live in Hawaii

Yup, promethazine knocks me out.
DPH, Benzos, Mirtazapine, doxylamine, alcohol and there's more I can't think of which work well for me.

Yep, that was a really dumb idea. The body effects are somewhat the same, so I was hoping to get knocked out. I do get those dark vibes from benzos, only way to describe them is a darkness in the soul. Aggression and petty emotions. I have recently started drinking a bottle or two of red wine every evening until I am in the state to pass out. Stupid maybe, but it does work. I got prescribed quetiapine today because my psychiatrist thinks I am having a manic episode, so perhaps that will calm things down. Otherwise, I will sample every single available red wine before the summer.

I think people suggested every possible method of fighting insomnia ITT. Thanks a ton, again. I took the coward's route and got some bupe to taper down with. It kills the withdrawal symptoms to some degree and makes it possible to sleep. But for the future, your tips were most welcome.

Doesn't knock me out either, but makes me restless as all hell - an.uncommon side-effect called akathisia, according to my psychiatrist.

Your problem might be the seroquel if your still taking it. It (along with all antipsychotics) cause akithisia. Sounds like you have it most likely induced from when you took antipsychotics in past or antidepressants can also cause it. If you can get off the seroquel, there's a chance it can go away with time! The longer your on a med that caused it and suffering that condition, the more likely it becomes permanent. If you haven't been on too long and recently have the akithisia you have a good hope it can go away, some are unlucky and have tardive akithisia others though it goes away after few months off the meds.

I suffered it, I know it's hell! It's not mania, psychiatrists are quick to label things without looking at facts or that their precious meds could have caused the condition.

After a year off meds I thought it was permanent and was devastated living with it but finally after getting off everything else I was on not just antipsychotic, few months more and it went away!!! Now I can live again without constant agonizing restlessness and inability to sleep. :)
