Hi guys. I'm going through a bit of a shit time, kicking opiate habit and in general feeling very frustrated about how dry and boring reality feels thanks to a couple of well placed LSD trips. I need something to knock me out and let me sleep, because I am never well rested. Tried temazepam, but even 200mg will only keep me asleep for some 4-6 hours. That's not enough to feel rested apparently. And I'm only supposed to take 40mg per day so it won't do to be taking those kinds of doses, I will just run out faster than I can get a new RX. I don't want to drink myself to sleep every night. Exercise doesn't seem to do it either. Neither does quetiapine and similar drugs.

Any ideas?

What does this even mean?

eat xanax or smoke pot u should pass out fine - fuck seroquel

The OP tried using a benzo already, but it didn't work. Low doses of seroquel (25-50mg) can be used for sleep since it is a sedating antihistamine at that dose.

I find that drinking as much whiskey as I can stomach generally knocks me out or to be more precise makes me pass out.
Only problem with this method is you will more than likely feel rough as hell the next morning

Seroquel doesn't knock you out?? Jeez

Exercise more!
amen to that,lol...seroquel makes me into a retarded mess.never will try them again for sleep.unfortunately you're amongst countless others who for them sleeplessness is the worst part once the kicking's over.even 5-6 xanax sticks won't do it for me.last time i really kicked, and i mean kicked to where i was bedridden for 2 weeks the only thing i could do was some pushups and jogging after i was able to move on my own.took 35 days if i remember correctly to get some real 8hr sleep.

not rem sleep, just sleep.about to go thru it again with these friggin subs.hope this is it for me.

I take 600 mg Seroquel and it doesn't knock me out anymore.

Go to your local pharmacy and ask about an OTC sedative. There's diphenhydramine, doxylamine, etc.. I don't think there's a very wide variety of OTC sleeping pills unfortunately.

I gotta second the Xanax recommendation - if you are able to come up with any.

Halcion (triazolam) is a potent benzo that hits hard and quickly, and has good hypnotic properties, but it is rather short-acting. You would likely need a good dose of this if the temazepam is not doing the trick at the above mentioned doses, but it is a very powerful hypnotic as far as benzos go. Melatonin is a natural supplement, and is OTC, could help some. Good sleep hygeine is important, sleeping should be a relaxing and comfortable experience. Hot baths/showers can be relaxing, and crawling into bed after one might help in addition to meds/supplements. If the insomnia is so severe you could look into barbiturates, but these are extremely dangerous in terms of OD and addiction. They are drugs not be fucked with. And they are not common, though phenobarbital and butalbital are not impossible to get.

Have you tried zolpidem (ambien)? As far as sleeping pills go, this is the one I have had the most success with. I have found that it works best if you take it and then get into bed with some soothing music on and shut your eyes.

For some reason I thought he asked for sedatives he can get without a prescription.

But theres a whole variety of sedatives !! Benzos, antipsychotics, antidepressants, hypnotics, pain killers, anticonvulsants, street drugs, antihistamines, alcohol, sex.

Nembutal, Klonopin, Valium, Ativan, Halcion, Xanax, Lunesta, Ambien, diphenhydramine, doxylamine, trazodone.

If you still can't get to sleep then maybe a higher dose or combination will knock you out. I don't advise that, just sayin'.

Doxylamine/diphenhydramine are very much underestimated as sleep aids IMO. They should be the front-line defence against insomnia (well, that and good C. indica).

Seroquel is a rather nasty drug that doesn't always work.

I honestly don't know what to say. If Seroquel, Xanax, Halcion, or Restoril doesn't work, I have a HARD time believing any OTC antihistamine would work....

MJ used propofol...... but there's no way I'm recommending that.

Man if temazepam doesnt work your in trouble cause that is an excellent sleep med IME. I would say maybe try mixing Temazepam weed and an antihistamine together see how that goes.

200 mg of temazepam is a huge dose. I assume you have a really high tolerance for benzos. Have you tried Zanaflex/tizanidine? It's a Rx muscle relaxant that I find incredibly sedating at 4 mg, much more so than Benadryl/Seroquel/temazepam/clonazepam/Ambien. It also has a completely different mechanism of action than the benzos, so I'm guessing you wouldn't have issues with cross-tolerance like with other benzos.
