So quick run down, I'm 27. Used percs and H for 6-7 years. It was getting outta hand and I decided to take action. I stopped and used subs for 2 months and a week, tapering down. Iv been 8 days no subs :) don't have any of the physical withdrawals. But I wanna be more productive at work and not be a bum and at this stage it's hard to get a good nights sleep.

I decided to get 18 xanax bars. They work wonders for sleep. Iv been scouring the web cuz I know benzos are highly addictive. I got them Monday and have 10 left and don't plan on getting anymore. Am I at risk of getting a dependence on the xanax if I keep the use under a week / week&half.!Iv only used xanax once before and that was like 8 years ago.

Thank you for the help! And I believe if you have the will power, you can concur anything. :D

Congratulations! That's awesome; you've decided to quit and you're making fantastic progress.

With the caveat that I'm not a doctor and a reminder that everyone's body handles these things differently, I'll say that it's highly unlikely that <10 days worth of benzo use would lead to physical dependence. It sounds like you should be fine.

It is likely, though, that you'll still face insomnia problems when you find yourself out of these xanax. Do you have thoughts on how you'll handle that part of the process?

No, if all you have is 26mg and that is all you take you should be fine. If you haven't ever been dependent on benzos before (if you haven't been tolerance to them or gone through withdrawal when you stop using them), you should be fine.

Just be careful, because the longer you take them the more you risk dependency. Alaprazolam isn't the best medication to be taking for insomnia, but it is better than nothing.

As sim mentions, it is likely you'll still struggle to a degree with insomnia after you run out of the benzos. Perhaps get yourself a bit of cannabis and use a small amount of that at bedtime once you run out. Or go to your doctor and get prescribed something like trazadone.

Thank you for the kind words, little things like that help. Iv tried Benedryl, it works but I was reading about Kratom. Is that worth looking into and purchasing?

Kratom isn't exactly ideal for treating insomnia. If anything I always found it more stimulating type opioid effect than sedating type opioid effect. I honestly don't think it would help you get more sleep, but who knows.
