Please have a look at my reagent tests, particularly 2C-D:
My research has turned up some descriptions such as:
"Marquis - Very faint brown, fading to clear.
Mecke - Yellow-brown fading to reddish brown"
"Marquis - Very light pink"
"Marquis went bright yellow not brown."

The colors I get, as you can see from the chart above, are only roughly similar to these descriptions. I wouldn't describe the marquis test as 'bright yellow', or 'very light pink' (though there were hints of pink), or 'fading to clear'. It's not quite the same as the pictures either. But I would describe the color above as 'faint brown' but also more like brownish/yellow.
The same is true for the mecke test. I wouldn't describe it as fading to a reddish brown but a deep purple instead.
Would you say, based on looking at the chart above, that my sample of 2C-D is impure, or maybe even a whole other substance?
