Need Help With Pain Management

I need to get a new pain med. I was on oxycodone, 20mg IR x 4 a day, and that was working very well. But after about 6 weeks of that I wanted to stop to avoid getting hooked. I went cold turkey, which was a lot of pain and some withdrawal symptoms, but I got it out of my system and good to go. Problem then was that I still had pain whenever I was doing anything other that laying still in bed. I told my doctor that I quit the Oxy (explained my concerns about getting hooked) and got a scrip for demerol. The demerol works, but barely. I have to eat it like candy to get anything out of it, and I find at the doses I have to take it makes me feel sick all the time.

So my question is when I see the doc tomorrow what should I ask for? I was thinking dilaudid (hydromorphone) would be the logical choice?

It's ALL addictive. And that's something you're gonna have to face. The oxycodone was most likely you're best bet. What you can do to avoid "dependance" is... Take the medication only as needed. That was the biggest mistake I made when I started pain management. I took everything all day every day. I have since tapered and take the medication as needed. Also if you only need half the dose only take half. There are ways to get around that.

Dilaudid is shit for pain orally. I highly reccomend you explain your concerns to your dr tommorow, and also explain that you don't want to be dependant. A huge part of being in pain management is will power. Sure, it's easy to get high as fuck quite often but it will leave you in pain and some people WD...

Demerol is shit as well. I am not a fan.

What is causing your chronic pain?

I have a friend that uses the fentanyl patch as needed. It works super well for him. I am not suggesting the fentanyl, just taking meds as needed. I find Oxycodone is the best working medication along with Opana. That's just me. There is medication out there for you. Good luck!

I was in a bad accident which tore up my wrist. I have a plate in there now. I am hoping it's better in the next month or so. Meanwhile I need pain meds.

How does the opana compare to oxy?

Opana is 2x as strong as oxy. Its great cause when you take the pill it does not get you high it's just pain relief. With a proper taper by your dr you would be able to get off of it easily. I tapered myself down. Opana works better nasally which is why they are making an Opana nasal spray.

I take Opana ER as my long acting and roxicodone 30 for BT pain.

It might be worth looking into for you.

You have to realize ALL these meds are "addictive".. But if you have will power then you will be okay.

If you want to talk about it more feel free to message me. Maybe we can find something that works for you that you are comfortable takingl

There is no need for you to suffer needlessly and there is a medication out there for you. Like I said if you want to talk feel free to PM me.

You could just get Opana (oxymorephone) and snort it.

However, oxycodone and vicodin will make you feel a whole lot better but are not as good for pain.

I snort mine because it's more effective that way. I also just snort it as needed instead of twice a day... so some days I might dose once.. some days not at all and somedays twice or even 3 times. I don't snort whole pills when I do it either.. It depends on my pain levels.. Also I just let some pain slide sometimes. I don't want to be on opiates daily.

Ask about Opana or Fentanyl. Dilaudid (oral) is shit for pain. Absolute shit. Oxymorphone is a good choice. But as Violenza said, they are all addictive. All of them can be just as addictive as oxycodone and produce the same withdrawals. I've never heard of Demerol working that much for more severe pain, maybe moderate at most.
