A friend of mine has been wondering on the best method of IV'ing H. He does it using completely sterile pins & other equipment, inlcuding alcohol wipes before & after. He can usually find a vein and get it done but some of the time it takes multiple attempts, and doesn't go all that well. He knows to keep an eye on the end/ opening of the syringe, and when a small amount of blood creeps into the syringe, when this happens he then pulls the plunger back to make sure he's in a vein. He want's to know if this is all correct? and needs some advice on the times when it doesn't go well and takes many attempts, because not only is it extremely frustrating for him but it causes un needed pain and marks. On these attempts, constantly no blood enters the syringe so he knows it isn't working..
So yeah, he's asked me to post this on bluelight because I have an account already, he needs some tips on simplifying IV'ing, increasing the success rate. What could the problem be when he cannot get the flow when plunger is pulled back, nomatter where he tries it, taking countless attempts.
He's told me to pass on this information in hopes of anyone improving his method. Once the syringe is full he forces a couple drops out of the pin to insure there's no blockage, draws a tiny amount of extra water through to ensure clean flow. He wipes the area with Alcohol wipes, then proceeds to inject at about a 35-40 degree angle, and only tried to pull the plunger back when he sees a tiny amount of blood come through as he pushes the pin in (before the plunger is pulled). It would be so beneficial if someone knows why sometimes it takes so many attempts/
