need help to sleep

God, i think i've tried all of these except 'phenibut'.

*Melatonin i find very effective, however over time i became quite dependent on this exterior source; taking the 1mg capsules almost every night, then every night, for weeks.

*Nutmeg mixed with a glass of milk has helped in the past, but has no sedative qualitys, only 'relaxant'...

*Promethazine/phenergan is very sedating, yet not in the way that Z drugs or benzos do, it just makes it VERY hard to stay awake, if ya know what i mean. 25mg did nothing for me, i have needed 50 to 100 mg for sedation from this, unfortunatly the sedation left me foggy the next day.

meditation works great for me. i have pretty bad insomnia and i'll take unisom a few times a week. but i find to try and fall asleep naturally the best thing for me is to get into some sort of routine, and then just lie there and take big deep breaths and just focus on breathing in and out. it can be a bit annoying but after doing it a few nights in a row when you're starting to get a bit tired, it works very well.

i was diagnosed with some mild, intermittent insomnia for about a decade. after years of trying everything, id have to say meditation is the foundation for all methods id use to fall asleep.

on a night where i think i can sleep fine, i just lay down and go to sleep.

on a night where i think it will take too long to fall asleep, i attempt meditation and breathing techniques to relax me into sleep.

a night where i dont believe i can sleep well at all, id do a combo of meditation and 3mg of melatonin.

for me, it seems a guarantee that a heavy dose of cannabis, melatonin, and meditation will almost guarantee me sleep within 10 mins.

i personally avoid drugs (not counting melatonin or cannabis) of any sort, be it tylenol, benzos, dimenhydrinate, or a beer or so to get to sleep. to me its more weight to my bodys system, more chemicals to break down and remove, energy wasted, etc, than its worth. it took a lot of years to convince me that meditation and breathing were a lot stronger than any sleep med, even ambien, but its amazing what controlled oxygen flow will do to your body.
