For the past two or so months I have been taking 6+mg of Ativan per day, and I stopped taking it all together two days ago.

48 hours or so after my last dose of Ativan I was in bed sleeping, and I woke up to some stomach discomfort. Within a matter of five minutes (literally) I went from slight discomfort in my stomach to full on flu-like symptoms. The whole works. I feel like I am going to die. I actually think I almost had a heart attack as I had complete "pins and needles" in both of my arms and legs along with severe chest pains. I took 1mg Ativan, which helped the anxiety & pins and needles a bit, but barely touched the nausea I'm currently feeling from withdrawals.

The earliest I can get into a doctor is seven days from now, so I need to come up with a temporary taper solution until then.

If I took a minimum of 5-6mg Ativan daily, how much (and how often) should I take to ease the intense withdrawal symptoms?

You are at extreme risk to have a seizure. Go to an emergency room as soon as possible! Do not wait for a doctor's appointment.

if you have the self control and the Ativan you can taper slowly

You are so supposed to jump off when you've gotten to around 1 or .5mgs of Ativan.

Not at 4-6mgs, that why you're body is freaking the fuck out. You could have a seizure.

I was going to say kava kava but seeing the other posts, I too suggest ER. I'm unfamiliar with ativan, I didn't think it was that strong of a drug, but I never took 6+ mgs at a time either. Best of luck to you.

Is it really that serious? I took 1mg before sleeping and woke up 8 hours later feeling fine.
Is that normal?

EDIT: Alright, maybe I don't feel "fine", but I don't feel like I did before. Also, what's the need of going to the ER when I have the ativan to taper off of?

Going to the ER rather than waiting for your doc appt is for your safety, due to the seizure risk. I know you have Ativan to taper with, but you really need a medical professional who can set up a safe taper for you that would at least get you from now to your doc appt.

Your dose is really pretty high, I think it would be in your best interest to go to an ER for now, since you can't get to the doc right away. Were these Ativan Rx'ed to you or were you obtaining them illegally?

They were RX'ed to me legally. This is probably going to be a dumb question, but if I took 2mg Ativan to keep myself from WD's (this would kill all my withdrawals), would taking a recreational dose of opiates (400mg Codeine) be fine to do? I'm with my friend right now and we feel like doing some codeine, and I feel fine enough to do it right now.

Would it be safe or would mixing the opiates/benzos be too dangerous?

^It's not dangerous, but I think you should have your Ativan issues straightened out before you go out getting high again.
Yes, benzo withdrawal is that serious. Benzo withdrawal and alcohol withdrawal are the only types that can actually kill you.

If he has ativan (and self control) to taper with, why not taper with it? (though ativan is not the ideal benzo to taper with)

If he does not have ativan to taper with, ER.

Yea, I'd go to the ER complaining of chest pains trouble breathing ect... explain you have a history of panic disorder and you'll most likely get a nice shot of lorazepam and a script!

Also benzo WD is super serious anyways. You should taper down..
