Hi there fellow bluelighters!

I'm once again on the path to recovery (one more time) and this time i will give everything i have to keep me sober for good, and for that, i will need your support and advices.

So here's were i am now:

i've been doing heroin and crack on september and november.. i've decided to quit heroin in the midlle of November and replace it with subutex to avoid withdrawal.. i've been doing crack while i was on subutex.. i quit doing crack two days ago, so now, i'm just on subutex.

Today i took about 0,5 mg of subutex around 12:30, and i'm on the way to stop taking it. I think i will buy one last tablet of subutex (8mg) and when that one finishes i will try to stay clean and sober for good. I will try to divide the subutex in 16 parts, so that way i will be taking 0,5mg of subutex on the next 16 days.

So what do you guys think i should expect when i stop taking the subutex? it will be severe withdrawal or it will be something more manageable, since i'm only taking 0.5 mg a day?

if you have any tips on foods that can help the brain fighting the cravings and withdrawal please share it, also i'm looking for daily encouragement and any advices you have to figh the addiction and keep me sober.

Best Regards,

Deranger

Obviously everyone is different but if 0.5mg bupe has been holding you then I would say you have a great chance of the wd not being very difficult at all!

My first tip on food would be that whilst you are going through detox, if you feel like eating it then eat it. Focus just on getting loads of calories in to yourself, you will probably have pretty severely depressed appetite so any way of giving your body energy should be taken. After that initial phase start just by eating a simple balanced diet rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals. This should be the basis of any attempt to improve physical and mental function through diet. Do you understand food groups?

You've been taking Subutex for how long? If it's only been for two or three weeks, especially if you've been tapering your dose, your shouldn't have any serious withdrawal from it. If you just stop taking it at 8mg/day you may feel a bit shitty, but even then it won't be like acute withdrawal from heroin after a significant habit.

I'm more worried about how you are going to deal with your cravings re: opioids and cocaine as opposed to what your experience getting off Subutex will be like. If at all possible, because you've just stopped basing, I'd try and stay on Subutex for at least a few more week, and taper off it slowly. That will also allow you to build a stronger foundation for yourself and how you'll cope with cravings and the like once you're off it.

If you end up just getting off the buprenorphine and end up relapsing soon, please don't beat yourself up over it. Relapse is truly expected, and in your situation it would be very normal. On the other hands, congratulations on giving up the crack! Pat yourself on your back. Just remember that no matter what, keep trying and as long as you'll do, even if you relapse, you'll be moving forward towards your goals.

You've got the right attitude OP. Keep up the good work!
