Need help finally stopping the fentanyl

A little background….longtime pill abuser, 10+ years. Was always percocet/oxycontin until I went to a suboxone doc to get help and found out i was now hooked on the damn fent. Had always had no problems inducting to the subs from legit percocet, but as the many many posts that are here can attest, starting sun from street fent is an absolute nightmare. After many bouts of precipitated withdrawals, I finally tried the microdosing approach.

I’m legally prescribed one 5.7mg Zubsolv per day by my primary care doctor. I did my best microdosing with those. It wasn’t totally painless, but infinitely more tolerable than trying to take a whole pill on day one…..don’t do it!!! I now am able to take my whole dose every morning and feel mostly ok. Very minor withdrawal, but absolutely no appetite. My problem, and the reason for this post, is I’m unable to stop taking the fent. I can make it until around 6pm and the cravings just become unbearable. Should I increase my dose in conjunction with my doctor? In the past, when I knew I was using percocet, a half of one pill was more than enough. Now a whole one doesn’t stop the cravings at all. I’m very worried about getting on too high a dose of suboxone and just creating a new problem. Anyone dealt with this? I was thinking maybe going to two pills a day just for like a week and then tapering back down to one pill? would that be especially difficult? I don’t want to be hopelessly hooked on the zubsolv, but I desperately want to quit the fent and am starting to think i’m better off just being a slave to the sub. anyone with advice to finally kick the fent would be great!

That’s the thing with opioids it’s gotta be one or another or NO OPIODS ANLOUGUES. i guesss the fentanyl analogue you’re pill is pressed into sticks to fatty cells way longer than 24 hours even though you will be deathly I’ll in 12 hours on purely a fent habit. I’m there with you. stay Safe you’re better off with higher dose of zusolv or look into methadone or discontinuation with gabapentin/clonidine/ muscle relaxers under doctors advice. I am obviously not one. let us know you’re still kickin

Yeah you may consider increasing the dose.

Methadone is also an option. Then again, I was at one point on 380mg and still injecting fentanyl patches on a daily basis. Though i think it was moreso out of boredom than cravings, though its hard to differentiate between the two.

Street fentanyl wasn't around though when I was doing that stuff, I might not be alive now if it had been, because I definitely would have bought it repeatedly.

I'm sure you know about kratom given your experience with opioids. You would likely have to take 20g doses to be comfortable, but I think it could really help you. People have kicked fent and heroin with kratom, it's not easy, but it's possible.

Yes, Kratom can help dramatically with getting off of Fent. I know this from experience. The amount you have to take is fairly challenging, but it's worth it in the end, of course. And I also have the experience of a Fent cold turkey with no Kratom, which was an absolute nightmare. I was skeptical about Kratom initially when it became widely available, but my mind has changed since I used it very successfully more than once. And while it is no panacea, it can absolutely make WDs far more manageable and reduce suffering by orders of magnitude. I am glad it is all far, far behind me, and I feel great overall. Good luck to you.

Yeah kratom is definitely a good bridge to get off stronger opiates, no doubt. The withdrawals of kratom are very unpleasant as well but the difference is that they don't last very long. Some people especially on the subreddit have tried to paint kratom as a coffee substitute that has no withdrawals. I fell for that before, and then once I ran out... eugh. I shudder thinking about it, but my grandfather happened to pass away suddenly the day after I'd taken my last dose and the withdrawals hit me, so this is a big reason as to why I remember it being so miserable. I just couldn't stop crying, I was freezing, it was hell. It's the only opioid I've ever used recreationally (and at times with real medical purposes like bad pain). I still take it because I enjoy it, but if I had to choose kratom or mary jane, I'd flush all my kratom down and deal with the withdrawals.

Thanks everyone for the replys. I know methadone is better for the street fent but unfortunately, or very fortunately depending how you look at it, i’ve somehow managed to maintain a professional job all these years. And I travel quite a bit because of it. So having to get over to the methadone clinic every day isn’t an option for me. So suboxone it is…..

I think i’m going to up my dose and just explain to my PCP why. He knows next to nothing about bupe, and actually won’t even do inductions. I had to go to a specialist to get started and then once “stable” he prescribed me every month. But I had to ask him to add oxycodone and fentanyl to my drug screen as he thought the opiate 5 panel would cover it. most doctors do I’ve found. But because I’ve been very upfront and honest with him he’s usually willing to work with me. I’m not real keen on getting on a high dose of bupe but at least I know I won’t OD. I’m going to go up to 2 of the 5.7mg Zubsolv, one in the morning and then another early afternoon. I do ok for like 8 hours after taking the one but it seems to quickly wear off after that. I’ll then try and taper back down to one per day in a week or two. Anyone tapered that quickly? Not to zero, but from 11.4 to 5.7mg? i’ve heard the early drops aren’t as bad as the last ones? I’ll try and remember to post back here and let everyone know how it’s going…thanks again!

You should definitely at least try kratom out, it really could by itself help you. You'd have to take large doses but think of it as like, tapering off Xanax with Valium, or an SNRI with Prozac. It will be a good bridge. If you wanted a good online source with some of the best you can PM me. Extracts are also very, very strong but I don't know if you'd want to mess with those.

Yep, double up your sub dose for a week or 2, you should be fine dropping back down after a week, just to put it out there, subs never worked for me I always ended up back on the street stuff, poppy pods have been somewhat miraculous for me, just putting it out there
