My friend has about a gram/day heroin habit that he wants to end due to obvious reasons. A friend of his, who does not use is going to provide all of the dosing, as all of his other sources have been permanently cut off. He will be using white powder heroin that will be completely stable in quality during the entire taper. He wants this taper schedule to be completely written out beforehand with very little, if any, room for adjustments to avoid prolonging his addiction. Please do not reply with reasons why he can't be successful. Rehab is not an option so please avoid suggesting it or any sort of 12 step program. He has many reasons to get clean, but cold turkey is not an option due to the noticeable effects of opiate-withdrawal. I have done a lot of research, but overall need a plan that is personalized for his specific situation. All replies will be greatly appreciated.

for how long have you been using?
method of application ? IV, Nasal?
the reason why you decided to use?

if you were to stop today. how long before you first notice the signs of withdrawal?
how long have you gone with out using?

if you have strong self control and strong self discipline i don't see any reason why you can tapper off yourself. also a good supply of H

i go through binges of H number 3 but mainly number 4 grade. i have never used for more than 2 months straight and have always tapered off in such a way i would encounter 3-4 days max of withdrawal effects mild, to include 1-2 days solid sleeping normally.

as long as you have a good consistent supply it can be done.

most users will fail due to financial issues and no self control over consuming the drug.

My friend has been using painkillers for 2 years on and off. This current binge has lasted 3 months without even a day break. He snorts heroin #4, and he started because of being over prescribed hydrocodone and oxy for 8 months due to leg pain resulting from a surgery. He has tried taper methods on his own but failed due to lack of self control when the drug is in front of him. Withdrawals from the last break three months ago were unbearable for 10 days and on the 11th day he went back to heroin. During these last 2 years he has not experienced a break from opiates longer than 10 days. The first signs of withdrawal would start about 12-16 hours after the last dose.
