Heroin Need Help/Advice with shortened needles

I just recently ordered some 5/16" needles. I have been using the 1/2" needles and was having trouble registering, so I thought that the needle length was too long and I was going through the vein. Now that I have the 5/16" needle I can not register at all:X. The needle is significantly shorter and I am looking for help or tips on how to use the shorter needle. Should I take a different angle going in? SHould I go straight down? I really need some good advice from people who have used the shorter needle
 
Can you see/feel your own veins? If so, using a short needle should be easy.

I typically go in at a shallow angle, sometimes a steeper one.

With some veins I may try hitting it from the side instead of straight on it, whereas other ones I go straight down on it. I don't use a 90 degree angle, this is not wise. I would suggest finding a vein, using a 15 to 30 degree angle depending on how close it is to the surface, and carefully puncture the skin, pull back, and then go in further - some people may need to put the entire 5/16" tip in, whereas for me I normally only use a part of it as most of my veins are close to the surface.
 
yeah I can see my veins. I have somewhat of a scarred line on the inside of my elbow. I have been trying to give that area a break to heal. So you are suggesting to find the vein and puncture my skin a couple of centimeters from where I see my vein to the left or right of it and push in there towards the vein. I have tried this before and have failed. Grrrrr I think these 5/16" are just too short. I have been trying to hit the veins on the back of my hand and can never register but when I pull it out it fills with blood and then that sucks even more because I can'tsee when I register because its filled with red. I tryand try and try and try... its so frusturating. As soon as i puntcture the skin I pull back the plunger and slowly push the needle until it is all the way in with no luck at all. I Just want to see that lovely swoosh of dark red in the barrell!!!! Any other advice would be greatly appreciated
 
Too All people having trouble registering a vein, I HAVE SOME GREAT ADVICE.... Make sure you have a quality brand needle. I was using Sure Comfort Syringes and THey are shitty. I recently purchased some BD's and even tho they are about double the price, the quality of the needle itself is 10x better then Sure Comfort brand. So make sure the needle you are using is of high grade quality and condition!!!
 
What's the best needle length to use? I would like to here peoples thoughts on this. I'm relatively new to shooting dope only been doing it for about a month. Been insufflating for about 15 months. Just trying to find out the best needle to use. Short,medium,long?
 
If you can see your veins, then the 5/16 needle isn't to short, or atleast it shouldn't be. Also in using your veins in your hands, I wouldn't recommed it, incase of a missed shot, its tougher for you to heal from it in the hands, try using the crease of your arm, and use a tourniquet, it will bring your veins closer to the surface and keep them from moving as much. With the needles, to me brands dont really mean anything to me, you will always get a shitty one or two in each pack.

As the gauge goes, you really don't want to go bigger than a 27, unless you want track marks. My personal choice is 29 gauge, As I rotate often, I dont get noticable track marks, 30 and 31 gauge are to small and are more prone to breaking
 
I have nice,big,fat veins that are close to the surface,so I guess ill try the 5/16 length now. I've been using 1/2 length needles and have trouble hitting sometimes. Thanks
 
If you cannot register, but the barrel fills with blood when you pull it out, it sounds to me like you are simply penetrating thru the otherside of the vein. Try going at an angle close to parrallel with you arm/hand. This way it will slide into the vein without puncturing the back wall.

You also may have better luck using a tourniquet; just make sure to untie it after registering, before you take the plunge, to avoid blowing out you blood aqueducts.

I can't agree more; I tried "Sure Comfort" and they should call them "Sure Torture" because that's what they are.

I have only rarely encountered brand new BD needles which were god awful; most of BD's needles are quality. I have never had a problem with a Terumo needle - by far the best brand I have had.

Short tips are best for me.

I only use 31G, sometimes 30G's (only on rare occasion) and have never had a problem with these gauges - the 29 and larger tend to have bigger issues like scarring with me, etc.
 
i use 28 gauge 1/2 needles. for me their good because i could hit shallow veins in my hand or deeper veins like in the inside of my elbow. its all personal preference though. 28 is kind of big but its just what im used to but i do have some scarring which is mostly from using the same spots when i have trouble hitting a vein (not the best thing to do) it takes some experimenting to find the needle that suits you. i personally find it easier to use the longer tips. and it sucks because when i moved down south to florida the pharmy that sells the syringes i get only have bd and i find them to be shitty because the needle likes to bend easier than what i was getting from the exchange from up north (i forget what brand they had but they were better then the ones i have to pay 7$ for 10..rip off)
 
Yea I ordered some touriquets and they are the way. I have been using a belt which isn't ideal because it seems to twist my arm and veins around. Hanging your arm over your knee and stretching it out makes your vein on the outer part of your elbow bulge out very nicely. You just have to keep trying until you get it down right. If you are unfamiliar with iving, having an experienced user is the best option. Have them show you the ropes. Thanks for all the help, I hope you hit every time!!

I cant agree more about the Sure Comfort works.

When I realized they were what this podunk pharmacy had given me I was a little suspicious, especially considering they cost me seriously like a fucking dollar. $1.05 or something...

Absolutely the most problematic, shitty ones I've ever encountered. I have half a mind to sue the bastards.

:! If some place tries to hand me the things ever again I'm going to start uncapping them and throwing them like darts at the tech.

P.S. I agree with above. I learned to go with no tie of any sort and It's been smoother sailing since. However some people who are either thicker or very small really just need one.
 
yea I just got some Tourniquets in the mail and they didnt come with instructions!! WTF I need Help with these fuckers. Can some one give some help and tricks on how to use a tourniquet. Its basically a long ass think rubber band!! How do I tie it and get it to stay tied??

Basically wrap it once around your arm, and use a finger to push one end into a small loop under the band. It should stay tight but you should be able to pull on the loop and have the tourniquet come out. Basically you make a slip knot with it; it takes some practice but you can do this with one hand, and make sure not to tie any other type of knot that you can't undo easily.

A tourniquet is really pointless, if you need help use a belt. I have been successfully registering with out one !! Thanks for all the help. I now see why your name is Captain Heroin lol you the man

Dude it's a bloody tourniquet. Cant you work out how someone would use it? It's pretty obvious dude.

Seriously like sometimes i really wonder about some people. Venipunture really is not that difficult..

And everyone whos new dont listen to that dribble, belts are stupid. Tourniquets do the same thing more effectively and you can release them in an instant. Opiatebliss just cannot work out how to tuck the end under itself lol. Tourniquets are far from pointless... After a while though like captain_heroin said you really do not need anything to plump your veins up.

And thing is all you need to do is be able to feel where the center of the vein is, and where directly ontop of that is. Then puncture the skin, jack back your plunger, and continue towards the vein at the right angle until blood rushes in the syringe. Bam, too easy. Usually if i cant do this because my veins are hiding it only take puting my hand in a fist and holding it below my waist for a minute to make it easier to feel my vein, and then yeah feel it, bam hit it. You dont really have to actually be able to see the vein. I actually find deeper veins better as they tend not to move and shit as much.

Lol thanks! The best way to get veins to present would be by raising your blood pressure, making sure you are warm, pumping your fist, etc. It is also a good idea to exercise as this will also do a lot of good.
 
What might work for you neccesarily won't work for another person. The tourniquets I have do not apply enough pressure to pop out my veins. They are basically giant rubber bands. I am sure I could easily apply it to another person but doing it on oneself is a different story. A belt looped through the metal clasp will provide a lot more tension then a lousy oversized rubber band.
