I made a seperate thread about a bad mushroom experience, but i had a question, A bad trip of a combination of physcs sent me into a depression that is taking months to come out of, i have heard that then experiencing a good trip on mushrooms can say cancel it out? I feel like i lost my sanity for a while after this last trip but i was in no state to trip at the time, scared to do it again but if it can put me back on a high and enjoy life again i would want to try, I still smoke weed occasionaly and maybe it is this causing the recovery to slow, But what is a better path? shock to the system try and have a good trip and feel ok or abstain from every drug and hope i get better that way? i am at my wits end trying to feel ok again,, any views appreciated <3

reality is what you make it sir! if you think that a mushroom trip will blast you out of your depression, then it just might. but know that you'll still have to see the world with happy eyes while sober.

After reading your other thread, I'm not sure that a mushroom trip is what you need right now. At the same time, a psychedelic experience could potentially help you.

First things first: stop smoking weed. I promise you that's not helping. Because you're addicted, there is probably going to be another period of depression before things work in your favor. Give it a few weeks. Eat healthy, get exercise, and occupy your time with a project, hobby, reading, whatever. Healthy body is a healthy mind.

Mushrooms have been clinically shown to aid depression and anxiety by shifting perspective and allowing for a fresh start, but if you choose to take this path, do so knowing that your intention must be therapeutic. Find a sober sitter who's dedicated to your healing process, create a sacred space, and plan a protocol that can guide your "healing trip." Check out the therapeutic protocols that they provide at www.maps.org.

That being said, I agree with nag that a healthy lifestyle will be the most important part of your healing process. It's important to recognize when your relationship with psychedelics has gone sour, and the best way to do this can be to simply take a break and focus on sober methods of betterment. I also agree that the weed is not helping at all.

Whichever path you choose, best of luck to you! Blessings <3

this is more or less what i would recommend. Psychedelic experiences can help people with direction, problem solving, and various types of anxiety/depression, but if used improperly or in an uncontrolled setting can cause the same types of problems that they can remedy, as you're well aware.

If you want to go the psychedelic route, I'd read up on the 2006-8 Johns Hopkins psilocybin study. Then try and replicate their methods as closely as possible. There is another study involving MDMA, 2c-t-2, and 2c-t-7 on erowid that IIRC has similar methods you might also wanna check out.

Even if you do decide to go the psychedelic route, I would stick with the above lifestyle advice for a couple weeks while you study & plan your trip. If you stick with that healthier lifestyle long enough, you may find your symptoms alleviated without having to trip.

Yeah I dont think more mushrooms is what you need. Sounds kind of like gambling to me, ie the only way to get out of the hole is to double down.

If you must, I suggest a small dose. Maybe 1g or something. Otherwise you might get fucked over again.

I've had similar experiences with psychedelics and I find the best remedy for a bad headspace following a trip is to take a break.

If you decide to trip, I'd recommend a short acting hallucinogen, preferably DMT or Ketamine. This way if it goes bad it won't last for hours like with shrooms or acid so it won't fuck with your head too badly, but if it goes well it could definitely help.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on those. When you say 'short acting' and apply it to DMT I assume you mean either smoked or IV. I don't think that will offer the OP the insight/experience he is looking for. On the other hand, oral DMT w/ an MAOI might be a great idea--you would also need to make sure you had a competent and caring sitter.

Ketamine could prove to be a disaster if things went sour. While I do believe Ketamine is an amazing healing tool, I (and many others) believe that Lady K can (un)expectedly take you to take you to some very dark places. There's a time and a place for the k hole, and I don't know if that's best in this situation.

Unless of course you were alluding to daily low doses (and even then that's probably not the best course of action for the OP):
