Just to clarify, this is regarding weed, and not crystal, despite the name (its basically an inside joke) :D
OK, so I know there are countless threads on here regarding similar issues, but nevertheless I feel like telling you all my situation with the hope that I'd receive some good advice. If you are going to tell me to use the search tool then please refrain from posting. Also, posting in seasoned because I'd trust the advice of a veteran over a new smoker.
So I've been smoking for about a year and a half now, and for about 10 months on an almost daily basis (5-6 times per week). The majority of my smoking is done by myself, but I still experience the same problem whether I'm with others or alone.
The first time I ever experienced an increased heart rate after smoking was after trying an unmentionable (first and only time), my heart rate would become rapid when I was just chilling. This made me quite scared but after searching around online, I managed to convince myself that it was all psychological and after a few seshs of me trying to get it out of my head and not worry about it, just that happened. The problem stopped and for about two or three months but has recently started again, worse than ever. I measured my rate at 84bpm then no less that 3 minutes after smoking at 112bpm, all while sitting at my computer listening to music. I have tried everything, changing my setting, smoking only small amounts, doing other things to take my mind off it, smoking with people, listening to music. I have had minor success when I really get into music or cook a proper meal in either slowing my heart rate down or just forgetting about it but by and large my highs are no longer enjoyable, and if they are it is often towards the end of the high (still feeling it a little bit, but heart has slowed down). I would say that the increase occurs for about an hour after i take a bong rip, as all my smoking is done from a bong.
Just really disappointed that this has happened to me, as I really love the herb and the way it makes life that bit more enjoyable, nothing like coming home after a long day and just getting blazed as fuck and chilling out. So could anyone suggest some more strategies in dealing with this? Would a tolerance break of more than a week possibly help with this, or would trying a different method of smoking (such as j's or small pipe hits) alter the possibility of an increased heart rate happening. I don't know whether this is psychological or rather an actual problem that i should be concerned about.
So please, shed some light on this... Anyone who has experienced this or is knowledgeable in this area that could offer a response would be GREATLY appreciated. Maybe all I need is some encouragement from those who have gone through similar things to curb this issue.
PS. I am 18 years old, 6'0 and weigh 100 kg's (200 lbs), so I'd be classed as overweight. I do lift weights and do a small amount of cardio (walking for 20-30 mins, 3-4 times per week) so not all of my mass is fat, but still I do think that I have body fat that is above average.
