Hey, I have an upcoming drug test for employment purposes and I have bought a over the counter drug test to make sure that I am clean.

Results were a bit disheartening as I tested positive for Benzo's and Opiates. I do not use these drugs!

I have been prescribed 200mg sertraline daily, 300mg of Ouetipine before bed and 2x 200mg sodium valporate. I have a Bi-polar disorder.

Would any of these medications cause a false Positive?

Thanks!

Drug testing questions aren't allowed on the forums normally, however since you're asking if specific medicines you're taking could cause a false positive, I think we can give this one a try over in BDD.

While I'm not personally aware if these substances might trip a basic test, if your initial results are positive for employment, you have the right to have them sent to a lab for confirmation. This is much more conclusive, with actual substances being identified, not just drug classes.

Why wouldn't you tell the tester upfront that you take the following meds and list them off. Don't try to cover it up with BS kits, be honest. At that point, it's on the testers to figure out why you tested positive for anything, if they're worth anything at all. This is all assuming you really hadn't taken any of those drugs in the recent past.

Being that most of the information pertinent to the topic at hand has been covered, I'm going to go ahead and close this. PM any questions.
