Its Wednesday now, on Sunday I took 1 and a half tablespoons of baking soda, and 50mg adderall IR. (no tolerance) I was also smoking weed.

I was feeling good, then I felt something "pop" in my brain, I started to feel like I was in free-fall, everything began to get dark and I started to lose vision. I started to freak out and lose muscle control, my brother called 911 at this point.

Everything started tingling, and I got really numb. I couldn't even feel my body, and thats when my body started shaking uncontrollably. This whole "thing" lasted about 15 minutes before I started to "come out" of it.

The ambulance arrived, paramedics got me, and on the ambulance I felt that dropping feeling again. Like I was falling, and the intense numbness followed.

I remember getting into the hospital and being hooked up to a IV of saline water and 2mg Ativan. I looked at the EKG and saw my heart rate was past 180.

I was fucking freaked out for hours before I started to calm down and feel more lucid. I was in the ER for over 12 hours before I got to leave.

The entire day after I left I felt horrible. My brain felt really heavy, and constantly I would have the feeling like I was falling and losing conciseness. I finally got to sleep and the next day it felt like I had a massive hangover.

I was awake for maybe about 3-6 hours and then it happened again. I felt the dropping feeling, I started to lose vision. Then everything started tingling and I lost control of my body. I lost all feeling in my body, and then I started shaking uncontrollably, my brother saw it and immediatly called 911.

By the time the ambulance came I already "came out" of "it". But I still went to the hospital. Once at the ER I seemed fine, I could talk and function, and when I told the staff I had a seizure, the first thing that came out there mouth was "no you didn't".

All of them where extremely rude, and it started to get on my nerves that they didn't believe me. I said ok maybe it wasn't a genuine seizure, but I had no feeling in my body, no control of my body, and intense convulsions. I asked them what that was, and there "official diagnoses", was hyperventilation and a panic attack.

That would make sense, but before it started, I was breathing fine, and I was completely relaxed, and not worried about anything.

Since my vitals where fine they dismissed me.

The entire day after that I felt that dropping feeling several times, I constantly felt like I was going to have another one of those things.

It took a while but I got to sleep and slept for over 12 hours. Ive been awake for about 3 hours now and Im starting to think I have permanent brain damage. I can still talk, I can still walk and I seem fine. None of my family believes theres anything wrong with me.

But my brain feels really heavy, I feel like theres a strong pressure behind my eye. Since the OD nothing has gotten better, I constantly feel like im going to have another one of those things. It feels like the slightest bit of shock is going to send me right back into one of those things.

I can still talk and from a outside perspective I seem fine. But I feel like when I had that OD I did something to my brain, like I damaged something and I think its just never going to be repaired and my brain is always going to feel like this.

I don't know what to do. If anyone here actually took the time to read this, and has any input, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

To me, mixing weed and stimulants is a bad idea. Marijuana is psychedelic and stimulants have negative effects on the body. Add to this the fact that you "heard a pop" in your head and it was almost guaranteed that you would have an anxiety attack.

I'd lay off drugs for awhile (especially stimulants and psychedelics) and try to get your mind clear. TBH, that's really all you can do.

Eat healthy, sleep, sleep, sleep and lay off drugs. The doctors were annoying but they were most likely right. Amphetamine overdose is unlikely at that dose, even with baking soda, but that doesn't mean it can't cause EXTREME anxiety in a non-tolerant person, especially when combined with weed. High doses of amps can really take awhile to recover from and panic induced by them will literally make you feel like your dying. The onslaught of negative symptoms all at once can really be too much.

You should be fine.

Hey 500,

Just to let you know I'm a pretty laid back easygoing guy who doesn't get stressed easily, though approaching problems in an non-structured way irks me but I digress. The point is I have had panic attacks (anxiety attacks) before and the falling feeling and de-realization is honestly terrifying. They hit me out of the blue and I get tingling in my extremities, light headed, tunnel vision, disassociate with my body/surroundings, a wicked rapid weak pulse, and an impending sense of doom. Not fun and I feel for people who have to deal with these often. For me the first time it happened I wasn't sure what was going on but I found talking to people and getting my mind off it helped. Since then I realized they were panic attacks and now I recognize the onset and fucking mind over matter (or perhaps mind over mind ;)) them away.

Now I'm not saying that you can do the same nor that your only issue is anxiety attacks (or even an issue at all), but I am trying to instill in you the understanding that panic attacks aren't just in people who are worrywarts or something and can be, or at least seem to be, a really big deal.

That being said the stimulant abuse/OD could have caused damage as well which are precipitating them, or the panic attacks are compounding the damage, either way it's not right to just get a panic attack diagnosis but requires a stimulant abuse one as well.

The advice of living a clean healthy life is good and should help with any actual problems. As for any more attacks, try and keep a clear head and know that it will pass. The loss of control of your body I can see as an apparent symptom of major dissociation, but the shaking is a bit beyond what is to be expected so you can't be 100% sure it isn't something worse than anxiety, however the reoccurring more mild attacks are textbook.

almost sounds like some kind of cardiac attack. numbness is reported in heart attacks. and 50mg adderall ir no tolerance on top of some baking soda will do the job. lol. be safe dude. start low on the doses.

Dude, not trying to come off to blunt or harsh but as others have said it was a panic attack. 50 mgs is not anywhere close to reaching OD levels.

You were simply new to the drug and overinduged. Coupled with the intake of baking soda ( increase of stimuli ) and weed , you were going to experience some intense effects. On top of this, you mentioned you heard a " pop".., this only added to your anxiety. Im not saying you imagined it, but it's possible, due to the overstimuli.

By the way: for perspective purposes. Doctors are legally aloud to prescribe 45 mgs of d amphetamine a day. So you were in no way close to oding.

Things will get better.

Cheers

How do you define cardiac attack in this instance? Numbness or tingling can be attributed to poor circulation which is typical of an extended heart rate of 180. Damage to the heart muscle due to this would have been picked up on the ecg and with blood tests though.

look for the signs

You would know if you really fd yourself up. Ringing in your ears, poor vision, language mistakes, pins and needles, etc. If u r really worried go to a neurologist. Learn from this. Good Luck to you. Dove

Lets talk about the second time I went to the ER. This was a day after the initial overdose.

Before it happened. I was in a completely relaxed state, not worried about anything, and I was breathing fine. And then it happened, this was very sudden, and it only lasted around 7 minutes.

I had ABSOLUTELY no feeling in my body, you could stab me with a knife and I wouldn't be able to feel it. My body was having intense convulsions, I had no control over my body, it was shaking, literally all my muscles started making my body start jerking.

The only reason my brother called 911 was because I started shaking uncontrollably, forgive me if Im wrong, but I don't think anxiety/panic attacks include 100% loss of muscle control and intense convulsions.

^ I have had light convulsions, and some loss of control over my motor functions as a result of anxiety attacks. I couldn't walk anywhere, but I could stand up a little. I had absolutely know feeling in my body, other than tingling. There really is no way for a person to distinguish between a real heart attack, and a panic attack, other than maybe experience.

Medical professionals usually urge people to go to the ER if they suspect they are having a heart attack, even if they have a history of panic attacks. I have been getting panic attacks since 2005, and even with my most recent one a month ago, I was close to calling an ambulance.

Did your brother "see" you convulsing and spasming? Panic attacks are a bitch. The first ones scared the shit out of me and I thought I was having a heart attack. After the 3rd time to the ER, I learned what the signs were and learned the medicinal value of Ativan.

I hate anxiety and panic attacks. They suck. Hopefully, this is all you are experiencing and you have no real brain damage or seizure activity.

I also hate hospital personnel who are quick to dismiss claims made by patients just because they messed around with some new drugs.

Best of luck to you, man. Let us know how this plays out over time and what you learn.

Ive never had any "panic attack/anxiety" feelings before this.

Can you see why im having a extremely hard time believing this has anything to do with anxiety, and why it sounds more like a seizure due to neurological damage from the amphetamine overdose? And possibly my alcohol use.

I know 50mg sounds like a low dose. But Im like 130 pounds, around 5'8. I also took the baking soda like 45 minutes before I took the amp, and I haven't used amphetamines for over a month before this.

I don't know, I just sound like im bitching about this to the internet now. If mods want to delete this thread go ahead.

Yes he "saw" them. He wasn't going to call 911, until I started shaking uncontrollably on the couch.

^I would personally be relieved from what we are telling you, not dismissive! That said, I understand why you are skeptical. There is a reason though that everyone feels that anxiety attacks are by far the most probable thing to have occurred.

Didn't the hospital tell you specifically that you didn't have a seizure? You probably didn't have signs of a seizure such as lacerations on the tongue (from biting), etc. They can tell if you had a seizure!

Panic attacks are pretty horrible, many of us here have experienced them in fact. The fact that you "heard a pop" and were on weed and amphetamines is like the perfect scenario for inducing a panic attack. Don't underestimate how horrible a panic attack is; We're not saying that nothing happened to you, just that it was unlikely to be a seizure, especially seeing as the hospital told you specifically that you didn't have a seizure.

Everyone here is trying to help, not be dismissive and say that you didn't experience something traumatic! Good luck getting over this...

What is your alcohol use like, If you don't mind me asking?

I get that pressure thing in my head alot .

But it might be different
For u is it a bad feeling ? Good ? Or just neutral ? :S

I never had convulsions from a panic attack. But that does not mean that it cannot happen. Your brother should go with you to your primary doc so he can report what he observed.

Here is some general info on panic attacks that jibe with my experiences:

Tommyboy's question may be pertinent also. We are not doctors, but many of us have medical histories that may lead to relevant questions and information you can pass on to your doctor.

i know cocaine overdoses involve seizing. i had one, and wasn't breathing a few minutes, after resuscitation had no memory of the event at all

after 7 minutes without o2, brain damage is probable. after 11, definite. did anyone see this or were you alone
