Will: Yeah, that makes much more sense although I had wanted to add (I was pressed for time though) that how someone "feels" is entirely subjective. There is a very quantified physiological response in long term addicts but how they describe that physiological response is not arguable. For longterm addicts it really is a living hell but in retrospect those of us who have experienced are lucky to have done so, given the other side of the coin.

When I first moved to the US I was living in Tampa, Florida and at that time there was virtually no opiates/opioids whatsoever on the street (that only came along after 1994 when the Witness Protection Program began dumping all their Puerto Rican District clients in the Orlando area, and they flooded Central and Southern Florida with Colombian heroin).

So...to get my supply I would fly back and forth to NYC. Like many Middle Eastern Peoples, I have extensive 450 Metabolism, meaning I naturally require much more than a so called "normal" person to even feel opiates/opioids, let alone get a nice "nod" from it.

The result was, when I was younger and less educated about the dangers, etc., that I would break open 4 glassines (in other words 400 mgs. of "street" heroin) whenever I "copped" (bought), whereas most people without a steady addiction start with 50 mgs. (half of one glassine).

I bought a brand I had never done on one trip, and thank G-D I did not break open 4, I merely sufficed with one because of a heavily police presence, taking the rest with me to my hotel. I insufflated ("sniffed") half, and then the whole bag and proceeded to board a subway. Before I fit the next station I had the worst naseau of my life, as well as a massive "nod."

Most people vomit when they have no tolerance but it is not an unpleasant experience. In my case this has never happened, not even my first time and in this case it was the worst I have ever felt. By the time I got to my hotel room -15 minutes-I just made it to the toilet where I sat with my face for literally 2 and a half days of almost straight vomiting and dry heaves after everything had come up.

I did not become unconscious at all.

I had a second experience like that as well not long after.

I had a similar "conscious OD" 4 or so years ago. At the time I was a dope tester for a dealer. The wholesaler would come in and whip out a cylindrical shaped rod(many call it a finger) of dope, no bigger than your thumb. He'd break off some dope, crush it, and I'd test it out either by snorting or shooting. It's a stupid thing to do, but when you have a habit free dope is free dope.
So anyway, I do a few lines, wait 10 or so minutes, tell him its good and I leave with some free dope. Thirty minutes after that I get seriously ill. I can't stop vomiting, I lose all energy, I can't even hold water down. This lasted for about 24-36 hours. I'm just glad I snorted and didn't shoot it.


Most of my OD's, which I lost track of exactly how many, have been instantaneous blackouts. The last thing I remember before collapsing is "Damn this rush is good." Those are painless, until you wake up.

You don't remember it until you wake up...if you live from my experience at least.. It's bad when you wake up after, people usually end up losing hearing for a while, being numb in their body, shaking, and if they lay or sit the wrong way for a whole day they get bruises. If you get ambulance called they give you a medicine that forces you into withdrawal so thats no fun. Basically it's worse for whoever you're around because they have to wake you up and carry your dead weight and lose their high.

only overdosed once plugged 1 and 1/2 bags of potent NYC diesel after sniffing two bags and taking some percocet. hadn't smoked any pot or taken any diphenhydramine so i puked my brains out all night... not very fun.

Some people consider an overdose even if you just throw up or fall asleep with heavy breathing or stop breathing temporarily........ in that case ive od'ed about three times.... but having to call the ambulance...... ? never....

I never got to call the ambulance.. i was passed out in a pool of saliva foam and blood.. as i said before.. all i remember was waking up in absolute physical pain.. my lungs hurt.. my whole body felt like i was beaten with a baseball bat.. and I remember having to pull a broken off needle that was still stuck in my arm 4 hours before when I first did the shot.. not a pretty picture..

technically it is... anything above prescribed/recommended medical dose is technically and OD...

my buddy didn't od but we had a scary experience.

I had been smoking black daily for about 4 months. my friend who was mainly a pot head and a drinker decided to try some one night with me he drank probably 12 beers, and smoked a few bowls, and had max 5 or 6 small hits of black. He past out and vomited. I shouldn’t have let him smoke black knowing that it can upsets a noobs stomach, but I did.

I hear a gargling noise coming from the other room where he was laying there with his eyes rolled in the back of his head and struggling to breath. I got him to the ER where they said he was pre-cardiac arrest, he made it out ok after being in the hospital for about a week and a bad case of pneumonia.
