I have been reading extensivly lately about near death experiences and the scientific and theological perpectives on them. One case was incredibly interestring to me: Pam Reynolds. She provides one of the best documented NDE that involves and OBE and many sceintifically perplexing aspects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pam_Reynolds_(singer)
How can you explain this experience? Personally I believe we all die and transcend into the next world where we have to re-learn what reality is and our relationship in the universe. I believe we will come into the next world and look back at our earthly existance like an old man thinks of his childhood.
