NCAA Basketball 2010-2011

since most of the SEC hates on Tenn, I was thinking about rooting for them in all things SEC in the future. do you find this allsum, CS, or do the Vols not need another idiot rooting for them??

as long as you yell at pander a lot, i find it thuper. i fucking hate pander for being a georgia fan. they're the worst.

our stadium is rully big and it's on a river. so that's pretty cool.

plus, it's pretty fun to wear tennessee orange. remember, as a vol fan it's the only color you need because you can wear it to the game on saturday, hunting on sunday and at your job picking up trash on the highway monday - friday.

unfortunately, i think we're in for a few more years of mediocrity.

nice, man!

I can't wait for March Madness to start. I will be in Austin, Texas for the beginning, and expect me to run around the City of Austin as if I own it. I will make sure to swing my dick to and fro, to the chagrin of all watching just like true Buckeyes fans do on the road

I have a hard time thinking we can beat TN 3 times in one season. Then again, they haven't shown they can beat us ;) More importantly, our team has been peaking lately and should be in full stride for the conference tournament. Plus, we have that first round bye, whereas you guys had to play last night, and hang on to win over a team you had a strong lead over (16 pt lead...blown?).

I wouldn't mind an early exit, rest up and be ready for NCAA since we're in. Still, there's some pride in owning the SEC tourney again.

Suppose we'll see in a few more hours.

yea, i guess we have more riding on this game than ya'll since you're already in.

pretty sure we're in as well, but a win tonight would seal it for us.

regardless, i just won't be able to stomach getting swept by you guys.

VOLS BITCH.

damn Ohio State looks near-unstoppable

Big Ten and Big Ten Tourney Champs!! the March possibilities are endless. the Big Ten didn't learn that playing their signature style of possession b-ball with hard-nosed defense won't hold the Buckeyes down. tOSU is built like a pro-basketball team and can score in half a second (if whoever was guarding the center slipped up)

also, tOSU has built up a disarming amount of shooting guards that drop the trey as easily as Ray Allen (when William Buford and Jon Diebler are on, there is no stopping them)

I love seeing teams with a strong inside presence + three point shooting threats. that's why I've come to enjoy Orlando Magic games, and it's even more impressive and scary when that offensive format succeeds in the college level

the Big Ten is Ohio State's whooping boy once again!!

I couldnt agree with you more. But I am a Columbus, OH native

Hoping the Cavs spend their first 2 lottery picks on Kyrie Irving of Duke and Derrik Williams of UofA/Jared Sullinger.

There's also some 7 footer they could take depending on how the lotto turns out. I think hes from Turkey or something. Kinda reminds me of Big Z

Michigan played a hell of a game. I am praying they knock off Duke. Not very likely but ya never know. Any given game. 1 and done.

13 Morehead State vs/ 12 Richmond ought to be a snoozer. Maybe a good game but regardless who advances is going down

Unless Kansas loses to Illinois, then there becomes some possibility. Minimal though.
Kansas better not choke, I have them in my finals. Actually as my National Champ

Really really looking forward to UConn vs. Cincy tonight

KSU and Wisconsin should be good too but I dont really care who wins. Guess I am rooting for the Big 10.

looks like we're mortal enemies in the same bracket, my mang!

local newspapers have been printing editorials on how the State of Ohio could be considered more of a basketball state than a football state. millions of years ago, the State of Ohio was 2/3rd covered in glaciers in the Ice Age, therefore when the glaciers melted 2/3rds of Ohio is flat - and therefore colonial settlers marked off football fields in the sprawling flatlands

but some rogue farmers (just like Indiana!) set up baskety hoops on their farms

this Ohio State team boasts the most players from the state they represent than any other team allowed in the tourney (UNC was the second closest)

as a Buckeye, nothing would make me happier than to come out of Newark, NJ and subsequently to the Final Four than topping perpetually basketyhoops powerhouses in UK and UNC. sure, both those teams are experiencing relative down years (with lots of solid young talent, but it's insane to say you're team is doing okay when it reaches the Sweet 16)

thankfully tOSU has an advantage with their strong inside presence in 280 lb Jared Sullinger and with three deadly outside snipers in Diebler, Buford and veteran David Lighty

hoopin' tonight!!

Which can also be taken as "we can't recruit outside our own big assed state" ;)

I think the UK-tOSU matchup is perhaps the game of the sweet 16, certainly the game of the night. If you can top UNC (which I wholly suspect you can, should, and will), then yeah...a very nice path to the Final4 as you walk over the historical powerhouses. But, tbh, I see tOSU as so freaking strong this year, their part in the tournament is more a matter of seeing who gets to say later "I got beat by the eventual champions" as they are just head and shoulders over the rest.

For myself, I'm trying not to jinx my Gators, but while you're looking at basketball history for tOSU on their brackets (over UK, over UNC), I'm watching FLA have flashbacks of previous runs..and stops (loss to BYU in 2OT from last years = avenged! win over UCLA from one of our national championships = relived! heart stopping buzzer beater over Butler in an earlier final four run = ... ... ).

congrats on FLA getting this far. I truly thought they were an overrated #2, but they have proved me wrong. you know how much this pangs me to say, so I'm going to stop right here

honestly, tOSU should beat UK and UNC, because this year they are actually the more talented team. however, anything can happen. it's a surprisingly tough bracket for the Number One Overall seed

even thinking that Ohio could be just as much of a b-ball town as football is very strange or me to say. but look at some recent Ohio products: Greg Oden, Michael Redd, both Sullingers, LeBron, Mike Conley, etc etc. it's getting close, specially if the football Buckeyes do not secure a Nat'l Championship in this last year

I like how you slipped LeBron into that. You know he almost signed with Donovan at FLA, right? ;)

Still, even the analysts note how this tOSU team is built to win. Yeah, any game on any given night, but this team is constructed with the right parts and they are working together as best you could hope for. So, with that, a nod and kudos to Thad...and I'll be cheering for UK tonight :p
