Ya because regular season records mean anything. At one time west coast ball was worlds apart. Its not anymore. This argument is as relevant as me saying the Cs only lost by 13. Seeding doesn't tell the tale.

Seeding doesn't tell the WHOLE tale, I'd admit, but it certainly isn't irrelevant, and if you look at the head-to-head EAST vs. WEST match-ups, you'd see a HUGE disparity.

Johnny, kindly return to the thread, when Kobe is flashing his fifth ring in BOSTON next week, in front of the insecure fans who would feel less emasculated, if hypothetically, they would get "to see him cry."

well 1-1 everyone. what the fuck did I say, lakers need to watch ray allen for game 2... he then goes and makes the most 3's in a game in nba finals history going 8-11.

this is going to be a tough series. anyone who thought differently is out of their mind

LL you are too arrogant for a new yorker that's a Kobe lover. Bandwagoning at its finest. Pick one of your own 30 teams and stick with em. You're more into Kobe then people in LA are. Its cool though man. A lot of people don't take on battles they can't win.

Anyway Ray was in this game and Rondo got himself a triple double. I like rasheed off the bench too even if he didn't break Kobe's arm.

I'm still not really seeing bynum being a game changer. He's good but, he fucks up just as much if not more than any other good player. He handed Rondo many a rebound and the lane a few times.

Garnett continues to suck and again I wanted him on the bench.

@Johnny Blue:

I'm a Knicks fan first.

I'm a fan of this beautiful sport second.

And WITHIN my love for that beautiful sport, I have been in utter AWE, and YES, haven fallen in metaphorical love with Kobe Bryant, when I firsy saw his highlights from Lower Merion High before you had even heard of him.

I swear on my life, I pounded the table on Kobe since he was a teenager - and said in the 1990's that in my opinion, he had (THEN!) the potential to eventualy surpass even MJ.

So, yes, I'm proud of that prediction, and further, I am thankful that I get to see the world's most skilled player, who also just so happens to be the games CLUTCHEST player AND its HARDEST worker.

So before you call me a band-wagon jumper, Johnny Blue - why don't you do UTFSE, and view the hundreds of posts throughout the past several YEARS in which I consistently laud Kobe for being the GOAT (the debate of Kobe vs. MJ shall be saved for another thread).

So, in conclusion . . . suck it. :p

C's in 7.

Outside of Kobe, there are 3 major components to victory to one side or the other in this series.

1. Lakers' big men (Gasol and Bynum). Gasol is playing like he should have been playing 2 years ago when they lost. And although Bynum is improved, he is just feeding off Gasol's success. If the Celtics can find a way to keep them somewhat in check then they have a better chance of winning. However, I dont see it happening at least for more than 2 games at most. And it has not happened in the first 2 games thus far.

2. Rondo. Two years ago when Boston won, he was just a young PG to facilitate the offense through Pierce, Ray and KG. Now he is truly the QB and as Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, and no doubt LA knows...he can take over games. When you throw your best player at him for D and then your 2 bench guards to slow him down (and he didnt take a rest until the start of the 4th Q) and he still gets a triple-double, he is killing you!

3. Bench. Boston has the edge here as long as they continue to produce. Does anyone play harder when he is in the game than Big Baby Davis? That block (*sigh* sorry, it was a foul called) on Bynum was ridiculous. Nate Robinson is showing some value and Sheed will be heard from before this series is over (hopefully for a few games). As for LA, outside of Odom, who will make an impact? And Odom may not have an impact in this series just because of the dynamics of the match ups.

If this series does not go 7, I will be a bit surprised.

I think we've already benefited from rasheed. I'm very happy with him and hope to see him get more time. Gasol is beasting on kg and Wallace does a much better job with him IMO. Not to mention the fact that he can score and kg apparently sucks.

Kobe is a kewl 9/23 right now at the end of the 3rd quarter

yeah he had a bad shooting night. but I respect that he didnt get scared and disappear like a certain someone did in the eastern conference semis. he kept going because he understands the lakers need his 30 to win, and he gave them that. It was a defensive game and that can be seen in every shooters numbers. both teams were playing great D which lead to ray allen shooting 0-13, pierce missing 5 in a row getting scared and only shooting 12 for the game, and kobe shooting poorly.. the difference of those 3 guys is that although they all shot poorly, kobe still delivered his needed 30 points.

now that being said, I think all laker fans can yell out a thank you derek fisher! he came up big AGAIN. its so amazing to see everyone write him off in the media and even in the threads here on bluelight yet EVERY finals series he has a huge shot or 4th quarter that swings the momentum of the series.

hopefully the lakers can win another in boston and close it out at home because i have tickets to game 6 %)

Ugly Kobe game but he still got his 29 and Rondo was contained.

Fish just might get his jersey hung up in the Staples Center once it's all said and done. Dude is freakin' clutch.

Was there a game on tonight?

I totally spaced - I got high and played video games with LeBron till just now.

That fucker can flat-out PLAY NBA2K10 on X-Box!

^ you and the rest of the city of Cleveland.

I didn't expect Ray Allen to completely NOT show up after having one of the most memorable games in Finals history. it's like, if he just made even one, two, or three 3 point shots the Celtics would have probably won.

do props go to Phil Jackson or was it just another case of a sharp shooter turning cold?

Ray Allen is an embarrassment. Went from fire to ice, fucking didnt score a single point. think it was 0/7 for 3's and 0/12 from the field. Then kobe played like dogshit too, props to fischer and garnett they both had awesome games.

GO LAKERS!!!!!!

I dont think you can blame that win on ray allen being cold alone. it played a part but their were much more pieces to the puzzle here. it was mainly the laker defence that won that game. Rondo was held under 10 assists. when that happens the celtics offence falls apart. also pierce is being frusterated by artest. its definetily a plus when your 3rd or fourth best scorer nutralizes one of the other teams leading scorers. LA can live with artest being a non factor offensively because hes made pierce a non factor offensively which benifits LA much more

All true and then he (Pierce) gets frustrated and commits dumb fouls and has to ride the bench.

Just like I dont think Ray will have another game 2 performance, I dont expect him to repeat another game 3 performance either. The fact he was ice cold and the C's still had a chance to win is remarkable. Bench scoring for Boston was low as well. I'm looking forward to the adjustments to get Rondo more driving lanes and KG to step up his D on Gasol.

Right now Gasol is Finals MVP.

I agree Gasol is a fucking monster right now.

Big game tonight. If we are gonna have a shot this is a must win. We just gotta get something going here cause the Lakers are beating us at our own game. I just can't figure out how things are gonna go down. With Allen beating a 3 point record and then almost beating one for most 3s missed the next game there's really no saying what is gonna happen. I hope that the refs let em play because neither team has really been able to sustain any type of pace.
