Nausea when eating days after opiate use

This past Saturday I did 17.5mg of hydrocodone on an empty stomach and vaped a little weed just like I did the previous Saturday (and other times before that) however this time when I went to eat 2 hours after taking the pills I felt nauseous, the only thing I could stomach was ice cream.

Fast forward 3 days later and I still feel nauseous when I eat solid foods except this time without meds. Overall I feel alright except after I eat, hydro has never affected like this before. I consumed 1,075mg apap at the time and had one excedrin 12 hours earlier. Any idea what might be causing this? :?

Hmm, normally shouldn't last this long, but it could just be standard opiate nausea as some of its metabolites have a very long half life.

Have you tried using antihistamines?

Yes, I took 50mg diphenhydramine a few hours after the hydro Saturday night and 30mg mirtazapine the last two nights, haven't done any other drugs (OTC or illicit).

You might just be sick..and it just happened to coincide with the hydro day..
either way...please keep your distance..;)

I think nAON's idea is a good one..

Probably should stay away from the apap as much as possible.
Feel better soon!

^ yeah as token said, you may just be really unlucky and have gotten sick, it's the time of year when a lot of bugs are going around.

Do you use opis often, and if you do, is this length of sickness a common occurrence? I'll have to dig up the thread, but I remember reading about a guy who had opis disrupt his digestion completely, so there's a chance you may have a problem similar to that.

it's probably not the hydrocodone.

if it is, the only possible way i could see a connection between 3 days prior hydrocodone use and the stomache issues, would be if you're developing a dependence. that would depend on how long you've been doing the saturday thing.

3 days may just be the time it takes for your brain and gut to swing the opioid messengers back into equilibrium.

Thanks for the replies, I don't use opiates often...like 2-3 times a month at most. I never redose and and and no more than once every 6-7 days. My last 3 times I used was 10mg oxy on 2/18, 17.5mg hydro on 3/3 and 17.5mg on 3/10. I wasn't planning on using again for another 3 weeks.

Tokenname may be onto something about the apap because I normally take ibuprofen, tylenol and aspirin on a regular basis for back pain. The tylenol is well under the recommended dosage, 250-2000mg (2000 is not often), 250-500mg aspirin and 600-1800mg ibuprofen.

I do have IBS so I'm used to my stomach feeling a little funny on a regular basis but it hasn't made me nauseous prior to being diagnosed many months ago. I can't remember if the nausea back then occurred after eating or just being nauseous in general. I do know that it didn't last this long but I also wasn't using any opiates back then...I was smoking weed daily though which I don't do now.

Have you ever tried eating several hours before dosing hydrocodone? Ime, apap on an empty stomach is terrible & I gotta have something in my stomach before dosing hydro.

No, always on an empty stomach. For no often as I do them I didn't want the hydros not giving me the full effect. I''ve read that the hydro buzz goes to hell when taken with food.

I do know that it{nausea} didn't last this long but I also wasn't using any opiates back then...I was smoking weed daily though which I don't do now.

hmmm...wonder why the nausea didn't last so long..very mysterious..;)

I've had too much apap in the past...and had similar symptoms.
but..I used to do alot of dumb stuff.

How great that is..your willpower when it comes to opiates...
not re-dosing, going a week in between use..
I think it's great that you can keep yourself in check that way.

I don't re-dose sometimes, like when I don't have any left.
But- I do cry.

You're much smarter than me. Keep it up!
Hope you feel better!

I'm feeling better and I'm able to eat what I want now without feeling sick. I have been smoking lightly (half bowl) the last 3 nights so maybe that helped. Perhaps I did just have a stomach bug or something. I'll find out for sure if was the hydro that caused it when I do them again on the 31st.

I guess I never had the urge to redose because once it wore off I was either asleep or I would just hit the weed some more until I was lol. A guy I work with is amazed at my willpower when it comes to opiates and benzos, whenever he has them he'll binge for 3-4 days until their gone...with me I see them as a treat and something to look forward to. :)
