so im at day 13 from 3 years of suboxone. my heart is still pounding; i think it's from the loperamide i used a few days ago because its like another withdrawal. it was only 8mg too. i thought i was in the clear but i guess not.

anyway i took my bp because it was driving me nuts and keeping me up and it was 150/95 ish which is getting into hypertension. i eat very healthy but im just wondering if there is anything i could get that would help chill my heart because it feels like im gunna stroke out! its just anxiety im sure but its very very unpleasant.

is there say an OTC herb or anything that can relax the ol ticker? (no booze or clonidine)
i was also thinking of taking some old bp medication thats been here a while for someone else who wont need it, any problems associated with that?

Have you considered meditation, if not look up the basics of how to meditate. Using your breathe you can slow your heart down even just very simply try taking some time to breathe in and out very slowly concentrating on the in and out breathe focus only on this and try to relax the muscles in your body at the same time even picturing your heart slowing down will help.

Its the most natural way, i can think of hope thats of some help good luck.

try camomile tea. This may seem like a silly suggestion but in the middle of GBL withdrawals it actually worked wonders.

Pop 2-3 tea bags in per cup, the warmth of the tea also helps your BP.

nice thanks guys!

xegh: i have definitely been trying hard to zen out and yes it helped me on day 3 of the worst. did the whole buddha position and all. that was when i was begging to get out of my body and then acceptance came... it still sucked though.

I honestly don't think you should sit silent to high blood pressure even if its induced by withdrawal. Your reading shows high blood pressure and your systolic falls slightly short of hypertension. I know you want a herbal solution but I would recommend you talk to your doctor about a beta-blocker to tide you over until the withdrawal symptoms subside.

i took it today and its down to 144/74. that's really weird. im not going into walmart too this is a real meter. whats messed up is asked my parents to take theirs and it was around 115/50. and they drink, smoke, etc. they offered me their bp meds but i think that was just a temporary jump. if it stays below 80 i think ill be ok. although it still feels very uncomfortable but i think its mostly just anxiety and the crap associated with withdrawal.

do beta-blockers have significant withdrawal associated with them too? what seems to be the longest lasting side effect from bupe withdrawal? i see mostly sweating and insomnia. when should blood pressure resume to normal? i was normally 120/60 ish...

when should blood pressure resume to normal?

It's difficult to say really, some users blood pressure returns to normal shortly after acute withdrawal is over, for others it gets progressively better during weeks or even months in some cases. If you've had such a significant improvement in such a short period, and you have excellent blood pressure normally, then I would guess it should subside relatively quickly, maybe a week or two at the most.

You're correct, a lot of the time anxiety and blood pressure worsen each others symptoms.

do beta-blockers have significant withdrawal associated with them too?

Beta-blockers are safe drugs hence why they're so easily prescribed by doctors, and actually OTC in many nations outside North America. They provide low dependence and minor withdrawal symptoms in long term use, and almost no dependence and withdrawal in short term use unlike clonidine which usually provokes massive rebound hypertension even after short stints of use.

what seems to be the longest lasting side effect from bupe withdrawal?

Once the acute physical withdrawal symptoms disappear you'll have a variety of post acute withdrawal symptoms which are mostly physychological. The most dominant ones seem to be insomnia, anxiety, and depression.

Wax is an extract that can be removed from a bulk of the cannabis plant matter using butane, or CO2.

ooooohh odd slang. ive been in the arctic studying chem e in the boonies. it was good for me because i couldnt make a connect during the worst of withdrawal.

I thought weed actually increases blood pressure or heart rate, especially if you dont smoke it regularly. So that might be a bad idea. Salt increases blood pressure as does smoking cig's so that might be something to avoid.

^true, I'm a chronic user of cannabis/wax though so I don't think it increases my BP.

Definitely stay away from smoking tobacco and salt for sure.

Just had another idea aswell if you can get hold of valerian root in your local health shops that can dramatically reduce blood pressure but also makes you drowsy so could be something for night time, also helps with sleep if that is an issue.

Smells like a mixture of feet and fish and something else rotten so i suggest getting the capsules. HAHA

im gunna try and get some valerian and chelated magnesium today. thank you for reminding me of that stuff. the last time i bought 5 kilos of root and i couldnt drink it. i thru it out on day 3 of my withdrawal because i was gunna vomit from smelling that shit. im sure a couple tabs would be fine now, thanks again man!

No worries, and yer it has an unholy smell nothing really smells quite like it. I tried raw root tea method and couldnt even finish the cup and tried the oil which was equally as bad but the caps are supper easy but keep the bottle hidden away because you can smell it even when the lid is on!!!

I was going to suggest exercise but that is more a long term thing, short term it may increase your blood pressure as your heart rate sky rockets but, obviously still good advice for future.

guanfacine or clonodine and docs have no prob giving it to you ime. guanfacine is best though, my girl takes it for nightmares and sometimes i take it for an annoyingly increased heart rate.
