I'm a bit over BDO after attending 7 over the last decade and watching it decline over that time...

Tool will be epic, have seen them a few times now and just can't recommend them enough. Rammstein were amazing at Melbourne 2001, they ended the festival as good as Limpbizkit would have (for those who don't know, Limpbizkit pulled out after a chick died in the mosh at the Sydney BDO). Fuck Deftones, was a massive fan before twice seeing them live and man do they put on a shit show. Out of time, out of tune and missing much of what their recordings (which I still enjoy) portray. One of the biggest live let downs of my life and I have been going to festivals/gigs and playing in bands since I was 12...

I think soundwave has them beat in the line up wars this year, but soundwave is slightly more alternative and more my scene.

I need to go to this purely on the fact i NEED to see Rammstein! There are naturally other bands in the line up i really wanna see again. Have seen TOOL and naturally loved them... but man, i wont be able to live with myself if i miss out on my chance to see Rammstein.

I wonder if they'll do a side show though...

I'm really hoping Stooges do a sideshow 'cause I can't be arsed with BDO anymore.

Got tickets to No Sleep 'Til, and Soundwave which both have killer lineups.

Sweet! I'm yet to see Tool live.. them alone is enough to motivate me to go. I've missed Rammstein a handful of times in the past.. so i really want to see them this time round.

And for once living in Perth has its benefits for music tours.. i dont get back from Europe until January 27th.. so i get back just in time for the Perth show :)

Also got my Soundwave ticket for March, i cannot wait to see Iron Maiden again, their world tour in 08' was by far one of the best concerts and performances i've ever seen, 2011 is looking to be amazing so far :D

Yeah not really interested in this after it turned out Tool were the Californian band and not blink-182 :(

No Sleep Til Perth and Soundwave will be enough for me :)

That will definitely suite their sound and light show!

Security held out my arm while the gate crew put a band on my wrist and then I was let free inside. I truly had no idea what was happening for a while there. Guess they were happy that I wasn't an arrogant piss head :D

The 2hr+ set felt like an eternity and was one of the best gigs I have been to (other than Primus in Edmonton AB Canada)

It's unlikely that Tool wont do side shows. They have many fans to please that will not want to attend Big Gay Out.

Seen Tool a couple of times and they're amazing, but I'd rather stick my finger in my eye than go to the BDO -- fingers crossed for sideshows!

Line up has veered way over to the heavy rock side, as strong as the local lineup is I think I'll pass this time.

Hey guys, you wouldn't want to incriminate yourself on an internet forum would you? Keep posts in this thread about the event, not anything to do with drugs. Plus, AusDD is the place for Drug Discussion.... not in here.

So, here is the relevant part of the guidelines about this thread:

1. DO NOT discuss drugs
Discussion about how off your head you were, what drugs you plan to take, what drugs you plan to buy, what drugs your friends are going to take etc. will NOT be tolerated.
Your post will be edited and you will be warned.

2. DO NOT post information about private house parties of any sort in this forum.
Please use e-mail, icq or instant messenger to contact people you would like to invite to private gatherings rather than posting about them here. Threads relating to private parties will be closed and removed immediately. This is for your own safety, as we do frequent a drug website.

Drug talk in the social forums?

(sorry Klue I couldn't help myself =D <3)

Looking forward to working at the Gold Coast BDO next year. It will be a welcome change to forking out squillions to walk around in the dust and listen to some kick-arse tunes. This time I get to do it for free (in exchange for some labour)! :)

i ended up getting 4 tickets for the 1st sydney show... this stage i have them because im going until tool announce their side show...

if the second annoucement can improve on that line up i might consider going...

i know how un-organised my friends are and come the week into it, all of them will be asking for tickets... so at least i will have them.

The line is average at best... but big day out just cant compete like it use to... 5 years ago, it had no one out there trying to do what it is doing...

on this current line up, i cant see a boiler room closer, but in the space of a month after the big day out faithless and chemical brothers are coming out... how are they suppose to compete with that??? even more so, the chemical brothers would of closed the main stage if they did play the BDO...

Soundwave have taken a lot of the small rock/hardcore acts that they would usually pick up for the green stage and fucked it for them too...

BDO will always survive and out live these other festivals just because it does it the best... ask anyone who has been to soundwave or future... they are just so un-organised... It might not always have the best of lines up... but it will always have something for everyone, which future/good vibes/soundwave doesnt...

i have been to 11 of these fuckers in a row... and have never walked out disapointed (2001 maybe... ATDI walk off/Limp Bizkit). The crowds are generally good, the lines arent as bad as other festivals i have been to, and again there is something for everyone to see, you can go from watching Dizzee Rascal to Passion Pit to Calvin Harris To Muse... you wont do that anywhere else at an Aussie festival

i don't know what the big hype is about BDO.. as i've never been, I can only compare it to headliners at pyramid rock. I think i just prefer more intimate gigs

Wow, Chopsy! You're clearly a festival connoisseur but I disagree. I've only ever been to two BDOs and swore I'd never do another cos it's over populated, the lines are terrible and crowd is generally a bunch of fuckwits. I do have a tendency to compare every festival to Splendour tho which is probably not fair. Have you been to any BDOs outside of Sydney? I'm wondering if the city has anything to do with it?

Definitely agree that Soundwave is poorly organised tho.

Soundwave has taken these acts and put them in a festival where you're not basically listening to the radio all day.
