just got my internet and cable turned on in the apartment, quite stoked about it

or do what most people would and look up shelters to take them to. a lot of places have pick-up services (free of charge). i had to do that when i lived in the ghetto and some cat that was left at our apartment (wouldn't stop coming around crying so we just took her in) had kittens in my closet.

I'm not saying you did this, but for future reference, leave the "abandoned animals alone because often they are not abandoned at all.
