I wanted to post a pic of the grill but I forgot my photobucket password and I'm locked out. So it's a big gas barbeque grill on wheels with a shelf cabinet underneath. Mother bird is flying in from the rear effortlessly, we've watched her swoop right in through a slot. The entire thing is filled with bits of dried grass/straw and I imagine it took her some massive effort to do this. At this point I won't attempt to move them.

I opened the lid on the grill, I counted four little ones in there. They are not like newborns, they have lots of feathers and eyes opened. Actually chirping and I think they need to find their way out. After just a couple minutes, the mother was there and could not access like she's always done, seemed agitated. So the old man told me to shut it again, not to mess things up. I think I should try this again tomorrow? Suggestions from ornithology people welcome.

Times like these I wish my son was here. Before he got into drugs, his favorite hobby was bird watching when we lived in Florida. He would wake up early and spread birdseed across the patio floor. Come sunrise, the birds would appear in droves: parrots, doves, grackles, pigeons and bluejays. We would watch from behind the blinds because if they saw us, they would get spooked. Inevitably, a hawk or falcon would swoop down fast as lightening and one of those birds would become it's meal. Damn circle of life.

Check this out T. It actually lists a grill as a dangerous spot for the birds but, suggests that you contact a "bird rescue organization" because there are babies already. I guess they could take care of them until there ready to leave.

I don't know man. It seems like it's a fairly complicated situation. Especially depending on species. Apparently just about any bird is a protected species as well so you may want to call a pro of some kind. I'd personally be more inclined to let them leave on their own and then move/destroy the nest. I like animals too but, I also like to eat em and I wouldn't want them to make a yearly thing of occupying my grill.

Awh bless that's too cute. I don't know much about birds but I would assume it takes the mam bird an effort to get the nest sorted. awh! You're probably doing the right thing - but I don't know what to suggest to stop them going in your grill next year. They may remember, like I said I don't know much about birds.

Sorry to hear about your son. He may want recovery one day.

I know a little bit about time zones from my years here. I've got friends in Ostraya, the UK, SE Asia, & throughout the States, so it helps to know when they're available.

haha... it does help a bit, eh, being on Internet with people. I used to know a few from certain people I would text like Australia, New York etc - but don't know all of the US, I know that some states don't have daylight savings. Not sure which ones, but confuses the hell out of me lol

Just saw that movie. Godzilla was a straight gangstaaa.
I'm too cheap to pay to see a movie I'll wAit for it to come out on cable.

Also I would like to thank any of you that served in the military. Today is Memorial Day and in your honor I will do yard work BBQ and drink some beers.

This house just gets better and better with these invasive animals and their offspring. Turned on the a/c yesterday and noticed it's still quite warm in here. We bought this house from relatives back in October. I know how to use a thermostat despite my uncle telling me I must be doing something wrong and had me turning the breakers on and off.

So he came over earlier, found indeed it's not running so opened up the unit. Some mice had taken up residence inside and chewed through some wires. She ran out real quick with the babies clinging to her back. Good thing he's an electrical guy and fixed the wires in there. He wasn't so pissed then and said you know it was a cold winter. WTF I understand coexisting with nature but come on already.

My friend asked me to go to metro beach with her and I should have taken her up on it. Right about now I want this weekend to be over. Day three of the old man and his depressing war movies. I was woken up this morning to drum beats and loud gun fire in surround sound to the Sands of Iwo Jima. Not like I sit there and watch but hearing it is torture enough. Great the Fighting Sullivans is coming on next.

Do you live in Michigan? There is a metro beach here, but I suppose it's possible there is more than one metro beach in this country.

Macomb township, moved here from Florida back in October. It will take me some time to learn my way around once they grant me my license. What the hell is up with this secretary of state here? They keep refusing me and want a bunch of documents to show you are a serious Michigan resident.

I have to say the social services here are excellent. They didn't harass me at all. Caseworkers were quite helpful getting me foodstamps and medicaid and I was impressed with their fast turnaround time.
