Ok.. I am so stupid for this I know.. but anyway listen and tell me what you think I should do.

I did a STB extraction of DMT from Mimosa Hostilis a week ago. I didnt use a gas mask during the process, but didnt feel light headed from the naphtha or anything at the time.

I did a freeze precipitate and tested a small dose (20mg) and had a mild breakthrough so figured it was pretty pure.

I forgot to chop it up into a smaller powder before smoking it so do you think there may have been naptha molecules left in the crystal that werent released to evaporate all the way?

The reason I ask is because after the trip I had a tight feeling in my chest.. not my lungs so much, just a weird brick feeling. This feeling has since gotten me more uncomfortable, and last night I couldn't sleep. I got very scared after about 4 hours of pain and fear I had a friend take me to the ER.

All they did was take an EKG, take some blood, do a lung X-ray and my vitals.
About 6 hours later they released me saying it was Pleurisy and to see a family care physician.
I have no idea how much it will cost, and I didnt give them any insurance info since I haven't used it since turning 18.

Anyway, what I told them was I was painting a few days ago..
And they said its probably pleurisy.. I looked up all the causes of pleurisy, and really nasty things that are connected with it.. and I looked up the symptoms of naphtha poisoning and while my lungs arent as bad as my heart and organs feel.

I just smoked 2 hits of marijuana and remembered that thats what I did before it started hurting last night.. I since stopped thinknig this isn't good right now.

Im just wanting to know if anyone knows of any stories where someone came and asked what they should do about a similar situation and what happened later on..
I also need some suggestions of what I should do.
I stopped the whole DMT process, as well as smoking weed.

What would you do?

Smoking anything is not going to be good for your lungs. I smoked cigarettes for years and occasional chest pains were part and parcel. Having stopped smoking the chest pains have pretty much gone.

Whatever you've smoked, there's not much you can do about it apart from not smoke more. No point stressing about it. Just try and chill out, anxiety can make you feel like everything's wrong when nothing is.

Indigestion can make you feel like there's something wrong with your lungs.

I know nothing about pleurisy, sorry.

Naptha poisoning would require you to consume large quantities of naptha or its vapors, moreover it burns and evaporates easily. The tiny amount of naptha you may have ingested in smoking DMT is very likely harmless. It's probably an unrelated lung infection or disease.

Hi MisterSpiceGuy

You should not worry too much if you really used naphtha as it is a pretty harmless substance (with limits, of course!). Even if you smoked cantaminated spice it is HIGHLY unlikely that naphtha was the culprit.

Now several things might went wrong with your extraction. Was your naphtha really naphtha? also, and most importantly did it evaporate cleanly? Some cleaning fluids are labeled naphtha but sometimes contain other oils which are way more toxic than naphtha. Another thing, I can assume you did not wash your spice or do a recrystallization. Occasionally extracted spice may get basic contaminants, which are pretty nasty on the throat and lungs. Before using my vaporgenie or washing my spice with sodium carbonate or ammonia, my lungs would be sore, and I had an occasional asthma fit.

There are occasional threads on that subject here and most specifically in the dmt-nexus site. You should check them!

You should definitely avoid smoking anything for a while. Go see your doctor and tell them about your symptoms.

I don't see why you shouldn't stick with the painting story as long as you're clear with the doctor that you used naphtha as a solvent. Tell them that you're specifically worried about naphtha poisoning because of the pain in your lungs, heart and organs.

I haven't had pleurisy that I know of. Although I was treated for inflammation of the lung lining (which is the same thing right?), but the doctor didn't call it pleurisy.

I also had bronchitis and she put me on a respirator thing at the doctor's office, gave me a couple of inhalers and 2 scripts. It's been a while, so I can't remember precisely.

Anyway, it was a dreadful feeling and breathing was incredibly difficult before I saw the doctor: a burning agonizing feeling with every inhalation. It scared the shit out of me and I ended up quitting cigarettes and weed for over a year. (Dumb-ass me went to Paris and started with the cigarettes again. Grr.)

Anyway, talk to your doctor. The only other thing I know about pleurisy, being an avid reader of history and biographies, is that people in the early 20th century and 19th centuries used to get it all the time, but they recovered. If they could recover and go on to live long lives back then, you stand a very good chance of coming out 100% healthy from this experience. Go see the doctor as soon as you can. I wish you the best!

I suggest going back to the ER and telling them what you poisoned yourself with specifically. They will not tell the police because their only concern is your health.

While smoking DMT is very harsh on your lungs, you should not be having such after effects a week later.

I went to the ER for chest pain before to. Got x rays, EKG, valium, etc.
Stop doing drugs just to rule them out.

Anxiety can be a bitch. Even if you have some physical symptoms, anxiety will multiply them 10 fold (or more).
