Name of cannabis/marijuana/weed/ganja/whatever

So a few days ago I was high and thinking about the names of cannabis. Its most popular name seems to be weed and I was feeling that this is kind of disrespectful to the plant. Does anyone else agree?

I dont think the Cannabis plant gives to shit's about what it's being called. It's stronger then you, and gets you fucked up.

I know some people refer to weed as a weed, but in the dictionary a weed is definied as something that grows vigourisly in alot of environments, where people dont want it to grow. IMO Cannabis definatly isnt a weed
 
Well I don't look at it as getting me fucked up (although that can happen). But I feel the more respect you show the plant the more respect it will show you.

it DOES grow vigorously in environments that people don't want it to.
these people are law officials and government heads etc, and these places are suburban neighbourhoods, south american mountain ranges, an industrial warehouse, desert, fields, etc etc. Cannabis pretty much can and does grow anywhere.



technically it is a weed by definition, but personally I don't like to call it as such as it under-rates the plant. Marijuana is also a negative term.
Cannabis is deemed more appropriate, as it is far more complex than a bunch of daffodils or the like (actual weeds).
I prefer to call it - ganja or herb.

Yeah thanks for the information, but do your research first. It's called weed for a reason. Do you even know how marijuana grows? Even with a little knowledge you'd know it can grow and propagate just as quick as any common lawn weed.

I don't think the cannabis is too offended if you call it weed. I like to refer to marijuana as "trees". For some reason I never cared for the terms, "Mary Jane" and "Reefer".
