Naltrexone and opioids

^That sounds pretty good :) Do you find you get a good sleep though?

Yes I do, except that when I originally started naltrexone at very low dose (1 mg) while I was still using opiates daily I did get pretty bad night sweats. But not after that really.

i had a monitored "precipitated withdrawal" while heavily sedated in the dr's office about 2 weeks ago from what was by then a daily regimen of 1/2 mg suboxone, though i took half that the day before. i was told my withdrawal that day was not very severe compared to others'. i've been on 50mg Naltrexone a day since then. i have been experiencing mild withdrawal symptoms in waves lasting several days through these past 2 weeks. i hear that is a bit more rare, though not that uncommon. i have librium and some other meds to counteract the withdrawal and PAWS. having had my normal dose of Naltrexone in the morning, last night i took about 180 mg ox and got kinda high. kinda felt like i had 15-30mg of some drug related to ox if i had no tolerance. not the best high. kinda just made me want to get more high since it was so underwhelming. this morning i took my Naltrexone dose again and i'd say it put me back a few days in terms of withdrawal symptoms. my pupils are dilating a bit more, slightly more anxiety. nothing the meds can't handle. not sure if i will recover more quickly since i took the opiate while the Naltrexone was active. i assume i will simply because ox has a shorter half-life than subs.
to sum it up, not really worth it, but also not too much damage done except a waste of $ and the immeasurable increase in the acceptance of my using in the future.

Just thank god you didnt have the 180mg oxy in the morning and the naltrexone at night! that was a particularly nasty/painful time and by a largew margin the worse rattle i've ever experienced ever even iff off a lowish dose, but aye if you have it i found within 3 days of a high dose of your fav opiate you'll feel no better than a hug 8), was once upon a time intereted in the patches but i could easuly forsee me digging ont outta me if i was a chip on your shoulder or owt with a knif, would be v worth it imo (at the time -_-)

No Naltrexone in one week - okay to take pain med for root canal?

Hi, this is my first time posting so hope I'm doing it right (please let me know if I should post elsewhere). I started naltrexone (1 tab daily) a few weeks ago. I have not done opioids for about 3 mos, but was drinking beer nightly. I think my PSY started me out taking one daily because my cravings were daily. After reading the forums and about The Sinclair Method, it seems you're only supposed to take one if you plan on drinking. So, I haven't taken any tablets in 5 days and still don't have cravings. It's wonderful!

I do plan on having a few this weekend (I actually couldn't finish my beer last weekend, but it was nice to be able to drink without guzzling down several more!). My question is this: I had a root canal this morning and the dentist gave me 5 vicodins. The novacaine is wearing off and it's beginning to hurt. I've had RCs before and it's always very painful afterward. I'd like to know if it will be alright to take the pain pills since I haven't taken any naltrexone this past week and have not been drinking. Yay!

Of course, in addition to taking them for the pain it would be kinda nice to get a buzz, but if not I'm sure I'll survive. LOL

Thank you (and thank you for Bluelight ... this is an amazing forum),

Stephanie

Naltrexone broke my opiate receptors.

It has been one week since my last dose, making room for a planned relapse. Long story short I IV'ed hydromorphone at a suitable dose for my lack of tolerance and...nothing. I see many posts asking when naltrexone wears off, and the answer is it takes an extreme amount of time. Especially if you've been on it for any long length of time. But I guess that's okay, I will resume my naltrexone on Monday and take this as a learning experience, its high time I get clean anyways. Just thought I'd share considering the number of posts I see asking this, maybe I can save someone the trouble.

It's interesting that this is orally active while buprenorphine is not. I'm going to assume that the 6-methoxy is deprotected while this stuff has a ketone. Of course, 6-month nalmefene implants were tested in Australia.

Update: I was scared to take the naltrexone until the drugs were out of my system for fear of getting sick, but last night I said fuck it and took one before bed. I've seen this question as well so maybe I can help someone. Anyway, other than having to go to the bathroom really bad upon waking I had no ill effects. It is true that unless you have a dependence, you won't feel the opiates coming off your receptors. I'd assume getting high once or twice then taking it causes no problems.

Hi there, since I'm new to the site I wasn't sure where to post my question. TY for letting me know. But, I'm not sure how I find my question on the BDC. :)

Oh, and thank you all for your replies :)
