I thought this was hilarious. But it is sad that this is what gets out into the media about drug use. Sounds like the kid was pretty messed up

SEATTLE -- Police officers never know what they're going to get when they respond to a call.

This week, North Precinct officers got a naked man, growling like a dog and claiming to be the devil.

He was high on drugs.

Police were sent to the 2000 block of Northeast 105th Street at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday.

A homeowner had complained that a naked man was on his porch and "growling like a dog."

By the time officers showed up, the man had walked -- on two legs, we assume -- to the front yard.

The naked man, whom police said was clearly high, screamed that he was the devil and that "everyone was going to die."

Officers tried to talk to him, but he ran back to the house.

Police ordered him to halt and lay down.

Instead, the man continued to scream and began breaking windows in the house, cutting himself.

Officers used a Taser to subdue the man.

Officers handcuffed him. Seattle firefighters treated him for cuts.

The 20-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Police want him charged for damaging property.

people rule out true possession way too quickly. I'd frankly be pissed if I was the devil these days, drugs get all the credit

;)

^100% agreement!

Imagine if all the cops there that responded and found him when he said he was the Devil and they were all going to die just dropped when he said it.....imagine that story?

'Local man posessed by the Devil drops half the local police force'

lol I can see it now, they fire the tazer into him and the gun blows up in their hands as he shoots lightning bolts out his eyes back at them

By the way, how they knew that young man was high on drugs???

There are those devils and kings and what not in nut houses.

What if he just had mental problems?

Drugs got bad rep again

All that I have to say about the above statement is that the craziest people I ever met in mental hospitals were drug abusers at some point.

Also...this story/thread is awesome.

Sounds like a similar experience an acquaintance had after a night on acid. After an hour of him being convinced that the train home was evil and trying to run off at every stop and occasionally falling and fitting on the floor in front of the usual Sunday morning train users. He then proceeded to run naked through a main train station and out into the city on a Sunday morning in a tourist area, into a restaurant and ended up in a fight with the waiting staff after pushing a woman off her chair.

Needless to say, police were called and he woke naked in hospital with his parents standing over him... Not a fun day to be him.

Strange things; drugs =D

^who among us has not woken up butt nekked in a 7-11 freezer case?

So far I have had the luck to not experience that. After a couple of incidences of friends or friends of friends in naked states in the most inappropriate places, leaving moi to clean up the mess, I try to be a little more composed when surfing dimensions ;)

Drugs and mental illness do seem to go hand-in-hand, I wish I could find the stats on what % of schizophrenics smoke cigarettes (it's a surprisingly high majority)

My money is on PCP or he didnt take his meds
Could be any psychedelic, honestly. I - embarrassingly enough - had a similar thing happen after waaaayyy too many mushrooms. Although I did manage to at least keep my underwear on as I ran, barefoot, through (an exceedingly rich, lol) neighborhood trying to dodge the sniper I thought was trying to kill me. I'm still kind of pissed they didn't sedate me though, I was restrained and got a catheter and carbon, when a friggin xanax would've stopped the nightmare :/ It took over a month for the bottom of my feet to heal from how far/fast I'd been running =D (far as in how many laps I did through all the little cul de sacs in the neighborhood LOL)

I'm putting my money on either PCP or some sort of nightshade. People do some strange things when delirious.
Edit: Nvm, this is probably the wrong time of year for datura/other nightshades to be growing in Seattle.

it could be anything. A bad trip can be caused by so many psych's it's practically pointless to speculate. I mean, yeah, pcp-trips tend to be more "tear your clothes off", but I had an almost identical reaction (thank god my family/friends were, after quite a long time, able to catch my almost-nude ass and hold me til the ambulance folk shackled me down, instead of the police doing it!!!)

Eighty percent.

In fact, the two go hand in hand so closely that my psychiatry professor said if a schizophrenic patient of his claimed to have tried cigarettes and not liked them, he'd rethink the diagnosis. No one knows quite why (or quite what schizophrenia is at the biochemical level), but it's almost certain that the neural wiring that makes one find enjoyment in cigarettes is always part of the neural [mis]wiring that predisposes one to schizophrenia.

Here's the interesting part: it's hotly debated in psychiatry whether there is any net benefit to encouraging a schizophrenic to stop smoking. They have a much lower rate of smoking-related ailments including lung cancer, for reasons completely unknown. Plus, smoking seems to make them calmer, happier, and less prone to acute psychosis. So many psychiatrists have no problem just letting them light up, so long as they're not doing it inside where others are breathing secondhand smoke.

It's pretty unanimous that a schizophrenic should never drink or use marijuana, if he ever wants to get well enough to lead anything resembling a normal life. But half will abuse one or the other or both, at some point.

Honestly, this guy's story smacks much more of PCP, amphetamine psychosis, or the full-blown manic state of bipolar disorder, than schizophrenia. In the mental health world, public nudity (usually with tantrums or erratic behavior) is almost a dead giveaway for mania.
