N.S.W Cannabis caution?? what does it mean for me?

So I went to bdo sydney yesterday, had a joint on me, was caught by the stormtroopers, stripsearched, issued with a cannabis caution and a ban from sydney olympic park for 6 months. Cops weren't too bad to me because I complied, and they even left me with my ticket (so I may have had a big day out afterall ;) ).

My question is what does this mean as far as a record goes? My understanding is that this does not mean I have a criminal record, merely a notice in the police system so they can test me for cannabis when they pull me over for an r.b.t ie a flag against my name in their system. It was still a shit experience, getting starkas infront of cops and having to lift ure nutsack up.

Yeh strip searches suck.. lucky iv'e only ever had 1 and i was being a smart arse the whole time... jokes about buying me a drink before i strip..things of that nature haha.

It didn't bode well for me! :-D

I don't think i could have done it if i wasn't peaking on MDMA hahaha!

Basically your all sweet mate.. just don't get caught again. I got done going into homebake a few years back and had like 8 joints on me. I just got the caution and the 20 questions and all that bullshit. The stripping thing was another time and not related to ganja..

But you got no worries basically..its a good system. I think a strip search is ridiculous though.. "he's got a joint..quick strip him!"

well had I not been a mixture of drunk and high I would have sped up my walking pace, eaten it and swallowed it. Then let them search me. Alas I was abit too relaxed. The whole system is ridiculous, they will gladly serve people alchoholic drinks and charge you 9 dollars per standard drink, however when it comes to a joint which would be alot safer, they arrest you and strip search you. I wonder when people are going to realise it all comes down to money and revolt.

Every time I have been to court for both drug and non drug related offenses, I have been hounded by the judge over my cannabis cautions from my early to mid teens (2 cautions 3 years apart for less than 1g). So I would say that a caution received in adulthood, would be just as much of a fuck around if you were to go to court on other (drug related) charges.

I was told these marks against my name would be scrapped when I became an adult, but this was all lies. I even had one judge accuse me of 3rd offense (cannabis) when I was caught and summonsed to court over a measly 7g of bud in my early 20's. I was told by my solicitor that these cautions wouldn't even be on my wrap sheet, but there they were and the judge was lapping it up like a thirsty dog.

You may be happy that you received a caution, but don't think it wont impact on you in future. It will be on your record and if I were you, I'd be trying my best to stay squeaky clean from now on...

If you are going to take drugs to a festival, at least show up a couple of hours after the gates open. They can't afford to have an operation on the gate for more than a couple of hours (they're usually gone in an hour), so just miss the first shitty acts and enjoy not having to deal with brainwashed cops that think they are doing the right thing for humanity :!

As long as there is a game on TV and a cold beer in their hands they don't give a fuck mate.. your a nut if you swim against the stream.

So true. The sad thing for me is this essentially rules out teaching for me. Owell I didn't have my heart set on it, it was more of a fallback for me if my bach science took me nowhere else. However it just shows how the system is tightening the net so that those who do get through are the purest robots available.

I do have to say that something positive did come out of this experience for me. I saw how completely brainwashed these men and women are. One of them sat down with me and started chatting away. At the end of the conversation, a sense of satisfaction on his face, he essentially said to his partner that I'd given an admission. It was fascinating to see them weave away.

And that is very interesting about the police OPs, makes sense as well, this was my second festival, my first being field day which I thoroughly enjoyed alot more. Big day out was faaar too crowded and expensive.

^ Will a cannabis caution come up on a background check? Do the police have to divulge it to employers?

In QLD we have drug diversion, the police know about it but it won't come up on background checks for employment as far as I am aware.

I got caught within the last 18 months with 2 caps going into a large event of what I believe were mephadrone although were sold as MDMA and I only got a $60 fine, the reason for my post to you is I have numerous friends who have been busted with greater quantities than me of known controlled substances plus bagies and only got fines and cautions, most said the reason for the rather lenient punishments was because they all told the magistrate they suffered from some sort of anguish to do with breaking up with a girlfriend or losing their jobs etc.... On my court date I didnt even wait around for my court appearance because the line up before me was HUGE and I had to get to work, I just filled out a slip of paper outlining how I was really sorry, that I broke up with my girlfriend and lost my business so turned to drugs as an escape.

Funny thing was when the cops took me to the drug bus the first cap I ate hit me like a freight train, my eyes were rolling into my head, I was licking my lips and swaying on my feet, I started to blabber to the cops about how I understand they were only doing their jobs and how the female cops were the most attractive cops id ever been arrested by, they actually blushed and giggled :)

EDIT: this was NSW by the way

I'm hoping it's the same for n.s.w, however I wouldn't be suprised if it came back to bite me in the ass. And yeah I was pretty dry (drunk+high ;) ) at the time of the incident haha. Glad I wasnt a smartass, they probably owuld have taken my ticket.

This is good advice and I've found it holds true, you just have to convince your mates that it's worth missing the first few local acts to dodge the dogs.

Another good trick is to have someone take one for the team. Stash all your goodies on one member of your crew then have another smoke a big joint, maybe rub a bit of weed on his hands, just before entering. When we tried it the dogs beelined straight to that guy and the rest just walked right on through.

that's a really good idea, draw those doggies away. What happens if you are smelt out and caught with nothing? They can't do anything can they?

My mate was fine, other than having to strip down in front of some cops while stoned.

how much are you able to get away with for a caution? up to what weight?

thanks.

Yeah strip searches make you feel pretty shit with everyone watching them take you away n stuff. bad luck, and not good to hear psilos experiences with them.
