i did a search for this, but couldn't find any positive resutls. curious as to what it is, and if it's dangerous. i know it's not much to go on, but any help would be much appreciated.
 
You mean n-n, dimethylamine?

Only thing that stuff is any good for is getting a campfire going.

Don't ask whether something is recreational. Bluelight and Other Drugs in particular are NOT places to do so.

Also, there is no such thing as n,n-dimethylalinine. Perhaps you meant n, n-dimethylaniline?

That said, that shit won't get you high. I'm not sure why you thought it would.
 
i was not asking if it was recreational. i was asking because it's listed as a trace element inside of another chem that a friend of mine purchased. the name was copied directly off of the vial. she wanted to make sure the it wasn't dangerous in the >1mg range.

Don't ask whether something is recreational. Bluelight and Other Drugs in particular are NOT places to do so.

I disagree entirely... Bluelight is probably one of the best places to ask this question. Having no knowledge of this chemical, I too see how it could have been mistaken as recreational. And with so many people here knowledgeable about research chemicals, why not ask?

And since the effects are unknown, Other Drugs may actually be the most appropriate place to ask.

Why not ask? This can be answered quite easily by flipping the question around to ...(drumroll please)... Why ask? Why might someone ask about the recreational possibilities of an unusual chemical that (unbeknownst to the question-answer) isn't used recreationally? 50% of the time this is asked because somebody found a prescription bottle full of it in Aunt May's medicine cabinet when they went there after school to play Pokemon. The other 50% of the time the chemical's name was found on a list of chemicals for sale from a chemical supplier and it sounded similar to stuff that will just straight-up fuck-you-up man. Either way, both of these situations pretty much amount to people just looking to alter themselves with anything that they can find. Bluelight wasn't created to help dumbasses get high.

Did you read the reason why the person asked in the first place? It was to check to make sure it isn't toxic in trace amounts. I don't see how that equals dumbasses getting high.
 
I'm sorry, I didn't realize your purpose in asking. The fact that you didn't know the actual chemical name further implied to me that you were asking for foolish reasons...my apologies.

From what I could find, n,n-dimethylaniline has been shown to be somewhat toxic, but not really more so than say, acetaminophen (i.e. tylenol). I'd say that in that trace amount range it shouldn't pose a significant health risk.

ok, enough with all this debate about rules and guidelines and that shite. if you can help great, thank you, and all those other obligitory forms of gratitude.

from the little i've read on it, i'm assuming that to form the rec chem in question, the n,n-dimethylalinine was used as a purifier or perhaps it's part of the final reaction between two other chems, to form this new one. i hate to go into specifics for obvious reasons, which is why it is partially my fault that all this needless debate arose.

if there are any chemistry experts out there, i'd love it if one of them would discuss this matter further with me, possibly to figure out a way to remove this chem if possible, and necessary.

My bad, my point was the question wasn't about whether the chemical is recreational, it wasn't supposed to be directed at you.
 
Hmm, if it is n,n-dimethylaniline here is an MSDS for it (it's a pdf so if you're on a modem it may take a little bit). However, if the compound is spelled EXACTLY as you said then it very well may be just an alternate spelling of n,n-dimethylalanine, which as far as I know is a rather harmless derivative of the amino acid alanine.
