Hi,
I just checked Reaxys and there is no report on the N-ethyl analogue of cocaine. I just wondered if it is just another Reaxys oversight.

Never heard of n-ethyl cocaine, I'm not sure if it has a functional spot put in an ethyl group, but if logic follows from things like mephedrone to methylone then it would probably be less psychoactive as most drugs with an ethyl grouping instead of something with like say a methyl group in the same position ( I don't know if this is the case with cocaine ). I looked it up on google and nothing came up.

You mean replacing the methyl on the left with an ethyl?

Synthesizing ecgonine on its own is enough of a challenge, I don't think people have explored cocaine analogues like those (yet).

Much more complex N-substitutions have been produced (BrCN for the intermediate).
