'N-Bomb' believed to be connected to Scottsdale teen's death

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -
There is a new drug floating around the Valley, and this designer cocktail is nothing to mess with. It's called "N-Bomb."

Investigators believe it's connected to the deaths of two Scottsdale teenagers and several overdoses.

Noah Carrasco, 18, died in January. An advanced toxicology report is still out, but his family believes he died after taking two drops of "N-Bomb" administered through his nose. According to text messages on Carrasco's phone, the teen thought he had purchased LSD.

Susan Wadsworth is Carrasco's mother. The thought of talking to the media about her son's death made her tense but she made the decision it was something she had to do.

"He was very intelligent. He had good common sense," Wadsworth said.

She told CBS 5 News her son had dreams of being a professional musician. The Saguaro High School senior was a member of the Phoenix Boys Choir and a talented guitar player. But one bad decision in January ended all of that.

"I talked to him countless times about drugs and I don't think he would have done this if he would have known what it really was," Wadsworth said.

Over the past three months Carrasco's uncle, Jay Wadsworth, has been able to piece together what happened during the last few hours he was alive.

"He very quickly had a negative experience to the drug. His friends said he was paranoid and didn't want to be touched. He was very much freaking out," said Jay Wadsworth.

Friends said Carrasco later passed out. Someone drove him around for several hours before taking him to the hospital. By the time he was admitted to the ER, he was already dead.

"There is still so much that we don't know about the drug that killed him. It's still entirely possible that even had he gotten to the hospital immediately, it wouldn't have done any good," Jay Wadsworth said.

Meanwhile, Susan Wadsworth is preparing to talk with her younger son about the dangers of drugs.

"I will certainly talk to him just like I talked to Noah and I will talk to him about his older brother and I hope that will be enough," Susan Wadsworth said.

The drug most often comes in the form of white powder, but it can also be a light brown or tan powder, and is sold like LSD on small squares of blotter paper or liquid drops.

I think N-bomb is being used for 25i-NBOMe.. but i guess when the media is talking about drugs N-bomb could mean anything..

This wouldn't be the first story like this to come from supposed 25i, though.

Synthetic drug 'N-bomb' mimics LSD, kills Arizona honor student

A drug you have probably never heard of has been linked to the death of several teens in multiple states, FOX 10 reported.

N-bomb delivers a deadly high, and one mother, whose son died from it, is working with an anti-drug agency to issue a warning to parents and teens about the synthetic drug.

Susan Wadsworth, of Scottsdale, Ariz., said “it’s a trauma that I can’t really describe,” when asked about losing her son Noah, 18, who died in January after taking the drug.

Noah, an honors student who liked music, thought he was trying LSD, according to text messages his mother found on his phone. He and a friend drove around for hours before Noah passed out, and the friend took him to the hospital.

“He was a smart, loving, kind kid,” Wadsworth said.

N-bomb works the same way as LSD, said Jill Woods, executive director of Not My Kid, explaining how it can be delivered via blotter paper under the tongue or through the nose. She said she knows of three N-bomb related deaths in the Valley.

Wadsworth said she is waiting for another toxicology report. A level I toxicology report and a simple drug test do not pick up the ingredients of this drug, much like bath salts.

we all thought heroin was bad news and then all these synthetics came along..... its scary stuff for the new generation of kids trying to experiment.... I remember the days when we just did old fashioned cocaine and x and called it good

'old fashioned' cocaine is far more toxic than any NBOMe drug tacky :|

goodgod i knew it would happen they would start calling it n-bomb... i tried 25c a few days ago and it was kinda fun. no introspection really but really fun visuals, lots of morphing and such. i was watching family guy and it all looked like it was made from legos, anyways, this is going to be the new evil sounding drug that is killing your kids. I dont think they should be as available as they are tho, but its all these dipshits who adulturate blotter with these nbomes just to make cash, that is deplorable. selling it as LSD, but really giving them an nbome dosed how high on a tiny blotter. these drugs are a little too potent for everyday pot smoking fred, if you want to trip id say stick with something that has been arounf for more than 2 years so they actually have real info on it.

I have a theory on why there is so much 25i and such being passed off as acid. If any of you have been on Silk Road you know just how cheap that shit is compared to the acid on there. You could easily quadruple your money...

^ I see nothing wrong with RCs or the people who enjoy them. The problem is when dickwads try to pass one drug off as another, that really ticks me off. Luckily, people like that eventually earn themselves a bad reputation... though not before causing some damage, unfortunately.

You know what: if the prohibitionists want to prohibit something, they should prohibit the media from speculating on the cause of drug deaths before a toxicology report has been done.

I hate how they insist on putting "honor student" does that make he's death more tragetic? Do they put "local dumbass" or "local slacker" was killed? And I don't know he doesn't seem like he has crazy common sense, seems like that would tell him not to put random things up his nose.

I'm not trying to be insensitive or make he's death less tragic, it doesn't matter who or how they were another innocent victim of the war on drugs. Then everyone gets on prohibitions dick when really that's what killed him, that's what kills most of us.

you should be able to put in to affect the "if it's bitter, it's a spitter" motto to dealers and make them give your money back les he feel the back of my hand! around the clubs and shit if they think they are buying acid, then they are truly misinformed.thats the one thing i first noticed about the 25cnbome, it was mad bitter.

pennis vs who knows how many thousands of dollars to make a same sized batch of LSD?.

ah shit now the nbome series will forever be known as the n-bomb haha. In my day, we called them n-bomb-e and prefixed it with 25x.

we really need to do some research and figure out why some people die from these drugs in particular at the same dose that some people do just for fun. I accidentally took over 15mg of 25i once and it was just a super strong trip yet ~1mg has killed people?

he was young but should have done a bit more research, you don't put drops of LSD up your nose, i guess you could but there's really no reason to. I'd ask, 'well why does it have to go up my nose? does it have poor oral BA? kind of like those nbome drugs?"

i've had bitter acid like 8 years ago and it was great, sometimes its just the ink on the blotter that makes it bitter. I didn't find 25i to be particularly bitter, especially when you can put over 10mg in a drop, to someone who doesn't know any better, there's no way in hell they'll figure out the difference.
