Opioids Mylan Fentanyl 50 mcg/hr Patch for Lower Tolerance

SWIM has been consuming 37.5 to 75 mg of hydrocodone per day for about the past week (5-10 7.5mg lortab). In previous weeks SWIM has consumed up to 60 mg of oxycodone per day without ill effects. Obviously, this person doesn't have a huge tolerance as many of the users here.

SWIM obtained some 50 mcg/hr mylan fentanyl patches. In the opinion of the users here, would it be safe for this person to use this patch as it was designed? It has been worn for a few hours (up to 10 hours) with little result and SWIM is paranoid about wearing it while sleeping. SWIM doesn't plan on adding heat or any other method to accelerate release, this person just wants to wear it normally for 72 hours.

The main question is: is this patch too strong for such a lower tolerance?

I'm sure you can find opiate dosage-converters online.

But it's important to understand that fentanyl is one of the most potent opioids available. It's like 100 times as strong as morphine, or something, and I think it also has a very short half-life. Usually, for tapers and detoxes, it is customary to use weaker, longer-acting drugs. So fentanyl probably isn't ideal.

But if you take it and don't report feeling high I suppose you could theoretically use it to taper from the hydrocodone.

Don't keep it on at night unless you need to. You would probably be safe, but keeping it on at night unnecessarily would be giving your body 8 hours more of opiate addiction daily. It would increase your habit by 33%, so to speak.
