I write this, stoned of course, but it does not impair my judgement of right and wrong.
I believe, despite the certain steps several U.S States are making to make marijuana use legal - medicinally, it will be quite some time before marijuana is made legal in general to the public, of course to citizens over the age of 21; such as on the same scale that alcohol is legal.
When do I think it will become legal? I believe that most people who are sayings "legalize it" are in their early 20's - early 40's. Once this portion of the population really gains control of the goverment that will be passed down to us (assuming there is still one around); Marijuana will eventually become legalized in the same fashion alcohol is. Especially the Early to mid 1980's born crowd - turned politition - I believe will be a major factor. Since our government is generally ran by people in their 60's and above (minus Obama), I dont anticipate them to change something that has been in place for so long. Considering the stigma, and even the racism which still exists (MJ seen as a "black" man's drug")
But, with a new generation, coming into play, it will only be..(several decades?) before MJ is made legal.
only thing that would cause this to happen sooner; is someone in washington realizing the tax money they could gain from marijuana sales, and the many uses of hemp; - Or perhaps the damage it would do to drug smugglers from mexico. Yes, I know they bring cocaine and heroin and meth too, and they should stay ILLEGAL, but making marijuana legal certainly wouldnt be great news for most drug dealers.
Let me know whatcha think, or if i just did a blazed rambling. Thank you
