Is this possible? ...I made a post the other day but i couldn't explain it right ... its right in the crook of my arm and has been like this for about a week and a half.. The thing was that i had been sober for 2 months and went on a little week binge and by the end of the week i was having a really hard tim hitting my veins and i would get so aggravated i would just stick the half inch pin in my arm till i could draw back blood an believe i was hitting my artery...( i know im stupid please dont remind me) ... so i is it possible to have a vein or artery harden up??

Ok after a little google search i realized its called Superficial thrombophlebitis.. is this somthing i should be worried about and should i go to the doctor... i read that when you get that doctors usually prescribe antibiotics and pain killers... is there anyway i can get away without telling them i was IVing? or is that the only way you get this

I would be surprised if you were actually hitting an artery.. if you hit an artery, the force of the blood flow can sometimes shoot up into the barrel without even pulling back. It is also very bright blood, and the reverse pressure would make it very difficult to actually push a whole shot into an artery. If you did, your whole arm would more than likely swell up, and you would know.

It sounds more like you were missing, and may have potentially caused an abscess. Either way, I think you already know the best course of action. Go to the doctor. There is no shame when your life or limbs are on the line. Chances are you could be fine and it'll go away, but there is also the chance it could be a problem..

I'm gonna close this, since nobody on bluelight is a doctor and we cannot unfortunately give you an accurate diagnosis. I don't want to tell you it is fine, then have your arm fall off, ya dig?

Please get it checked out, and once you find out what hte problem is you can PM me and I can re-open it temporarily to post the results. I obviously hope you are ok, but the only way to find out for sure is to go to the hospital. It will be worth it. please

Mike

It's possible to get it from any type of trauma. I don't know why they would prescribe antibiotics for it though if it wasn't due to a penetrating injury though. I feel like they would just tell you to monitor it and come back if it gets worse or isn't healed in a few weeks.
