I decided to make this post in hope some of the people who keeping starting threads about stimulant suggestions/questions may find my opinion worth reading. For a long time now I have been in search of something that would simply help me wake up better in the morning and stay awake. I didn't want a "rush" or "burst of energy". I can focus just fine when I'm wide awake; however lately that has been hard to do. I've cut way back on energy drinks and try to keep my coffee intake as low as can be. I've basically reduced my reliance on stims big time.

I've tried countless RC's over the years only to find most of them are not proper for the work environment. I'd be too chatty or just too amp'd and didn't want my co-workers to think I was on something. I've also been slowly trying and retrying some pharms recently as I felt that's the direction to go in, NOT the RC route.

I recently got some Modafinil and yesterday started my trials with it.

Day 1: I decided to take half a 200mg pill just incase this packed a punch. To my surprise I barely noticed it start working. Within an hour I knew I was "awake" and I knew if I tried to take a nap that would not happen. So far so good. I was very very calm at work; was able to have conversations in a casual fashion and not come off as someone who was "amped". Any task I tackled I could put all my focus on. I was even able to take a break from the job I was working on and work on another project or have a social conversation with a co-worker. Once done, I went back to complete the original job I started. I tend to lose attention quick and combine work with a mixture of web browsing/forum posting. I was able to reduce my non-work time big time. I still got all my personal things done, but first and foremost I got my WORK done.

Fast forward to the evening and like others have mentioned; the only real downside I found was it kept me awake most of the night (24hrs). I had some codeine and weed and got a great lil cat nap in and awoke to my alarm.

Day 2: I decided since I had 300mg left, I would take one full pill (the normal dosage) and see how it compared. It was pretty much the same, but I had "slight" anxiety; whereas the day before I was fine. Now this could have been my coffee that caused this reaction. I've tried to keep the coffee to a minimum; but still like it's taste and slight mood uplift. I ended up taking a 1mg Kpin. Feeling much much better.

I have 100mg left and personally believe that's the perfect amount. 200mg didn't seem to increase the positives enough to justify that be the dose I stick to.

So IMO this is a great study aid/work aid. I no longer need or want to seek other things to wake me up or give me this kind of focus. Modafinil does exactly what I need and nothing else. It's not recreational at all and I didn't expect or want it to be. I now have something for those days when I can't wake up. I have no plans to use it daily. It's just nice I've finally found something that does exactly what I was looking for. (AND IT"S NOT AN RC!!! WOOT!!!) :D

Provigil is an awesome "attention aid". I love it. No comedown or crash like with caffeine or energy drinks. Could get a good nights sleep at night as well. Too bad this stuff isn't OTC or I'd be more productive in life.

How does adrafinil compare to this stuff? I've always been interested in modafinil but am unable to obtain it.
Not quite as potent and makes for stinky sulfur urine, likely due to higher equivalent dose, but gets the job done. Sweet spot was 300-375 mg. not an everyday drug though.
