My sleep is totally disturbed (no pun intended)

Hi,

Yeah my sleep is bad, very bad, all that because I stupidly and morbidly decided to stop my medications other than benzos (not even prescribed...). So I stopped Abilify and escitalopram before going to holidays, and all went wrong.

But it's been two weeks now that I took them back, so I hope my sleep settles like before. I always tried not to take too much benzos, I know how a vicious circle augmenting the doses can be, so my benzos intake is still quite low, at least...

Thanks for reading, I really hope that when the medications start working again my sleep will be like before I stupidly stopped taking them. Worst move of my hellish low life...

Yeah, they really don't explain to you quite what you're getting into with antipsychotics... Here's a list of the pharmacological actions of Abilify:

D2 Partial Agonist (Ki = 0.34 nM)
D3 Antagonist (Ki = 0.8 nM)
D4 Antagonist (Ki = 44 nM) 5-HT1A Partial Agonist (Ki = 1.7 nM)
5-HT2A Antagonist (Ki = 3.4 nM)
5-HT2C Partial Agonist (Ki = 15 nM)
5-HT7 Antagonist (Ki = 39 nM) SRI (Ki = 98 nM)
Antihistamine (Ki = 61 nM)
α-adrenergic antagonist (Ki = 57 nM)
mACh receptor antagonist (IC50 >1000 nM)

As you can see, it's quite far reaching with its effects and subsequently disturbs quite a few systems.

Thanks Pegasus, although it's a bit too technical for me. Didn't know it was an antihistamine too.

Anyway it's really a hard time for me, hope to see the end of the tunnel soon.

Always titrate on that stuff... The benzos omg that is seizure time without! Get legal in your state.,...weed! But the ability? Always wonder why pigmies aren't on paxil and everyday they are potential lunchmeat!

I do NOT envy what you've been going through, man! I have never experienced suddenly stopping a medication such as ability but I have seen people stop artpicals, SSRI's, SNRI's and others suddenly and it truly can be hell as bad or worse than withdrawal from ANY drugs.

How are you doing now?

I'm a bit better, thanks Cane. This night was the first good night I had since I took my meds back, at last!
