My Simple Role
I’m a lighting technician
That’s what I do
Change the colours
Try to pick the right cue
It’s my job to make others shine
Listen to their hearts sing
See them perform
Highlight the joy to the world they bring
I hide in the shadows
Buried in black
Show them how amazing they are
Keep them on track
Soak them in colour
Draw out those rich emotions
They are all so beautiful
Like lakes and oceans
Saturate them with warmth
Make there hearts feel on fire
My friends, my performers
Fill my life with desire
I can’t go on the stage
My sanity will melt
My reward is from their glory
Seeing what has been felt
I’m not lonely
I’m not sad
Lighting is my passion
Anything else will drive me mad
They illuminate my mind
From the reflection in their heart
With each performance they give
