Hello guys. So my psych prescribed me Concerta a few months ago, because I have some problems with staying focused and recalling information, to sum it up. I used to take Vyvanse, but it decreased my appetite way too much, so he switched me over to Concerta in hopes that it would provide the same effects, minus the lack of appetite. He wanted me to start on the 36mg tablets-- I don't know why.
Concerta doesn't quite give the same good feeling as Vyvanse, and I know quite a few people can agree with me. The euphoria is very different (if you can even call the effects of Concerta "euphoric"). But aside from that, it jacks up my heart rate to 120-130 bpm, which I'm not sure is a regular side-effect or not. Every day I wake up at around 7am to eat breakfast and take my morning med, and then I go back to sleep and wake up late in the afternoon. However, when I take Concerta in the morning and go back to sleep, I wake up from my nap much earlier with my heart pounding. I'm also really sensitive to (and irritated by) sound once the early evening hits.
Has anyone else had the same effects (particularly the increased heart rate)? Share your experiences in general, be it from medical use or recreational. Also, it's probably noteworthy that I have tried the "alza 36" tablet both whole and cut in half (to break the slow-release mechanism) and I get a rapid heart rate from either, and that my psych doesn't seem to think I have ADD/ADHD and neither do I. In other words, he has prescribed me stimulants to treat my symptoms, not a whole specific disorder.
